All very good tips, especially not mentioning the Bronco.

The black 2DR is my first choice, the black unlimited second. To me, the black unlimited looks smaller, closer to 2DR, and less like a wagon than the white one.

The dealership’s internet mgr texted me at 715am saying how excited they are to meet me, lol.
They probably think since you are flying in that you are definitely buying a car and think they have leverage. Eh who knows. This market is crazy either way.

I wish I could have gotten a two door but unfortunately I have to be a bit more considerate of residual value as I don't keep them long.

Good luck! I hope the two door is the choice, live a little vicariously!

I had a 2 door TJ and felt that how a Jeep should be. When the 4 doors were first released I test drove one and wasn't sold, but that was the previous version. I originally intended to buy a 2 door JL Rubicon, but to me, the 4 door just looked better proportioned. As some others have previously stated, even though the Jeep will be your third vehicle, it could quickly become your #1 driver. I prefer the 2 door over the 4 door Bronco too, but if you tell them you are cross shopping I don't think it will give you any leverage. Because you will be waiting or overpaying for one.
Around my area (Central Virginia) Jeeps are in such high demand these days there are no deals to be had. If you dont want to pay sticker price, step aside cause the person behind you will. Reminds me of the md-90s with Harley.

If you say that you’re cross shopping a Bronco they will think that price is no issue, as one can hardly be found to buy and when there is the markup is crazy. Maybe say a 4runner, or just don’t give them much info at all.
This-it’s not their business to know what you’re looking at. As for the Jeep as a 3rd rig, no question the 2dr hands down. More maneuverable, a tad quicker, a tad better mileage (just cause of weight). For two people, pull the rear seat and it’s a great go anywhere runabout. Mine is my 2 seat sports car that just happens to like dirt roads and trails best?

Love my JLUR, wouldn't change a thing about it and never considered getting a 2 door. Just never was my cup of tea. However, I saw a 2 door Bronco a few weeks ago on 35s and was smitten. It's the perfect size, bigger/longer than a JL but shorter than a JLU.

If I was in the market for a 2 door AND looks was my primary factor, I'd definitely cross shop the Bronco.

That is, if you can find one at a decent price, comparable to what you can get a JL for. Which I don't think is really possible at this time.

Don’t kick too long, it won’t still be there! Wranglers are almost absent from most dealer lots here. That said don’t pay over msrp… especially for a third vehicle.

I have a Bronco on order. With the way Ford has FUBARed the entire rollout it will probaly never be built. Doesn't really matter, I like my JL. So remember, you can get the Jeep now. The Bronco, maybe not. Like others have said if you don't need the more door go with the 2 door. I would have if I had that option. Don't get me wrong, I do like that extra cargo area with the rear seats down. Maybe drive them both. That may help in your decision.

Update: Was really impressed with Black 2DR Rubicon with 2.0l. Did not buy, finance is trying to put deal together that will make me pull the trigger.

Can't go wrong with a black 2 door JL Rubi..........but I'm probably a little biased :)

Hope the dealer can put together a good deal for you!

The one I’m looking at doesn’t have the steel bumper. Anyone know how much this costs, installed, and is it something that Jeep dealers usually stock?

It's highly doubtful that the dealer will have a steel bumper in stock, but it never hurts to ask.

Quadratec lists the OEM front steel bumper (P/N 82215121AC) at $1,279.99, so it would definitely be cheaper if the Jeep already has it as an option, plus you'll also get the matching steel rear bumper that way.

In Canada, the steel bumper group was a $1,295 option from the factory. I'm not sure what the price is in the USA for the steel bumper group, but I'm guessing it's around $1,000.

Good looking JL. I still love my JK 2dr... and would have a 2dr 392 if Jeep sold one (kind of like the JLU chassis too). Good luck.

Sport Altitude order 2/4/22 Gupton 3/31 home 4/16.
Sales people these days are like those old time snake oil salesmen. Had to ask all about their “dealer premium”, dealership handling charge and other code words for how much the dealer tacked on to msrp and DOC,TTL,LIC. Had one that doubled DOC, another had 0 DOC but over $5k “dealer premium”.

Once I wrung out every dealer in a 100 miles, I just custom ordered from out of state. Never could find a close match to what I wanted on lot or “in transit”. What a relief, no BS. Don’t care if it takes a few months.

But all that tire kickin’ does educate you on what you really want and whats out there.

Enjoy, it’ll happen!

Just search the parts for sale section here, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, etc. for some factory take-offs. I picked up the front steel bumper with skid plate & hardware for $650 & the rear bumper for $200. If that doesn’t turn up anything, there is a knock-off of the factory steel front bumper on Amazon for about $450.

Not a Rubicon, but...pretty happy with my black 2 door.
I removed the back seat immediately and got rid of it.
