I’m going to have to agree. I think Covid has skewed everyone’s perception on vehicle value. These are depreciation assets first and foremost excluding collectibles of course.

The only vehicles that are going to hold value are a handful. If you’re looking to make a smart financial decision none of the Jeep models are going to get you there. Purchase a used Honda or Toyota and invest the rest otherwise we’re all purchasing toys at the end of the day because we enjoy driving them not because they’re great investments or a place to park our cash.

And I agree with that 100%. I am not saying its going to hold it value nor am I saying that it wont depreciate. Wranglers historically have a better depreciation value (pre-C19) than most other vehicles do. They level out and stay flat for longer. No vehicle in todays market is a true money maker unless is a rare build.

One reason their value stayed flat for a long Ng time was because they were rare, and simple and cheap to fix, the JL is dime a dozen and expensive to fix, that's if you can even fix them when they fail, just look at the horror stories people post of the non 4xe JL models.

Buy and enjoy while the fun last

Hybrids and BEVs have shown their value TANKS compared to normal ICE vehicles. The 4XE is no exception to this. Doesn't help they're spontaneously combusting.

OP you had me curious so I checked highest mileage nationwide on Autotrader and there's this 21 Rubicon 4XE with 125k miles. Geez that's a lot of driving, I wonder which is harder on a vehicle overall, time or miles.

Side note, the interior looks immaculate for having so many miles.

In my mind hybrid vehicles are disposable. Once the battery warranty expires, get a new car. Not exactly environmentally friendly but that seems to be the case.

I was driving a Ranger 5G, had it until past warranty, great 4WD truck, but my mission shifted and when Ford released the Bronco Jeep Clone I was starry-eyed. I took my Ranger to the local pack-of-thieves, drove the Bronco, loved it and then they handed me the sales sheet with a $10K 'dealer markup' or some such nonsense. I was outraged and left wondering why I had ever thought Ford had any kind of owner loyalty at all. Took another look at Jeep, but I had always balked at the pathetic mileage on any of them. [Note: when I say 'Jeep' I mean Wrangler] Went to the dealer and was shown/drove a '24 Rubi and a Sahara 4Xe and was muy impressed. I told the sales guy the Rubi was 'too much' off-road and the Sahara was too frou-frou. Then he said, "You want a Willys" (I am quite naive about Jeeps) and he was right. We custom ordered it, he knew exactly how to configure it and a few months later I had it. Absolutely perfect, I cannot believe how fine this machine is in all respects. I know a lot of you young bucks think the Alpine system is for sh*t, but it produces better sound than my 911.

To be fair, the UAW strike meant that my Willys sat on the assembly line half-built for who knows how long. When I took possession in early December '23 it developed a CEL, had three trips back to the dealer, at one point had a loaner, but they literally bent over backward to make it right. Six months later (after all was resolved) the Willys is just a joy to own and drive and I have no regrets after paying cash for it (along with a very good trade on my Ranger). Trips to the filling station are so rare it is like driving an EV.

Biggest problem is keeping it from trying to mount every Sahara it sees on the road. I'm tempted to let it as I often wonder what that love child would be.

that's really interesting, and that car looks brand new.

I do plan on keeping the Jeep. Sure it will be low tech when the lease is up. My 2011 335is is low tech today ... no apple car play lol. But it still is a blast to drive.

I don't buy my jeeps to make money off the sale.. these are lifestyle vehicles and I expect to keep mine around the time the hybrid/battery warranty runs out. I bought my 2024 outright (no lease) and hoping that all possible gremlins show up before the 3 year comprehensive runs out - after which it should be smooth sailing to the hybrid warranty time expiry. By then the new gen wrangler should be out and up to 2nd or 3rd model year - that's when my next swap would be. I usually keep my vehicles for 5-6 years to get the best fun/memories/experience out of them.

You watch to many clowns on YouTube, disposable 😂

Seriously all Wranglers are gas guzzlers, environmentally friendly should never be part of the conversation, considering so many people rip parts off Wranglers and toss them into the land fill, yea environmentally friendly.

As people become more familiar with the benefits of the 4xe, it would be hard pressed to pass one up on the used car market, especially if they are cheaper than the 3.6/2.0T.

21 with 54k, doing the buyout over the next couple weeks.

With current values, I'd probably be turning it in if it was stock and under mileage. Of course we're 20k miles over and have beat the living crap out of it.

We plan to hold onto it for the long term.

Curious to hear how the buyout goes and if they make you pay up difference for negative equity.

Also any chance you have a Jscan and can check the SOH on the HV battery? On my 2022 with 23k miles the state of health is at 89%.

Buyout is set by RV. I'm skipping the dealer and paying CCAP the buyout direct. No mileage impact.

MSRP $64,095, Lease 36/12

Buyout: $38,353.83 + $350 Purchase Option Fee = $38,703.83

If you do the buyout at the dealer, they'll screw you to the tune of $1k-2500 for misc fees in my experience (Doc Fee, Inspection Fee, etc.)

I've got the Jscan equipment, but haven't used it since I'm Tazered. If I get around to it, I'll post it here.

Your buyout is better than mine on a base Rubicon (MSRP $59k). I wonder if it's the state tax. 10.25% here is screwing me over.

My lease is 39mo/10k miles through USbank.

We have dual taxes here. I'll pay 3% sales tax when I do the title swap and we get hit with property tax annually, probably 1.5% ish.
