We have dual taxes here. I'll pay 3% sales tax when I do the title swap and we get hit with property tax annually, probably 1.5% ish.
Annual property tax on a vehicle is such an odd concept for me. Then again annual registration is highway robbery here. It was over $700 this year for the Wrangler just to get my tags.

Yeah, I've lived in a couple states that do it. Ours was around $700 new, then they depreciate it each year, I think it's down to $450 this year.

Buyout is set by RV. I'm skipping the dealer and paying CCAP the buyout direct. No mileage impact.

MSRP $64,095, Lease 36/12

Buyout: $38,353.83 + $350 Purchase Option Fee = $38,703.83

If you do the buyout at the dealer, they'll screw you to the tune of $1k-2500 for misc fees in my experience (Doc Fee, Inspection Fee, etc.)

I've got the Jscan equipment, but haven't used it since I'm Tazered. If I get around to it, I'll post it here.
Lucky you don't have to pay sales tax on it like many states.

Thinking of keeping mine for a long time. May be even skipping whole next gen wrangler. Like JK owners now not looking into JLs at all. So far zero issues on my rig. Knock on wood.
Also don't want to invest so much into the rig and then part out. Will just keep it as a dedicated off road rig down the road. Least that's my thought right now.
The only thing that can change my plan is 392 next year. If I don't get one then I'll start building 4xe a little more.

21 with 54k, doing the buyout over the next couple weeks.

With current values, I'd probably be turning it in if it was stock and under mileage. Of course we're 20k miles over and have beat the living crap out of it.

We plan to hold onto it for the long term.
20K over! Sheesh that's a record.

14k miles on my '24, no plans to get rid of it. I had my gladiator for 4.5 years and 72k miles, traded it in when I saw the updates on the '24 4xes. So far very happy with zero issues but could see trading up if they up the battery mileage to where it would cover my complete commute (~35 miles). Might go back to gladiator if the 4xe version is good, probably when the redesigned '28s come out.

@Steemax

Just to follow through, I used USAA to finance the buyout, lease is through CCAP, no dealer involvement. I called CCAP last week and got the buyout quote about a week after my final payment. Started the process with USAA on Monday, loan was finalized Tuesday for exactly the buyout amount I stated above. USAA sent the check Wednesday, CCAP received it yesterday, my CCAP account shows closed today.

CCAP is to send me the title, I'll then go to the DMV and switch the title and add the lien when I reregister. I'll pay any tax/fees to the state at that time.

Congrats! Interesting they have you do the title/lien transfer on your own. I've done a couple re-fi's in CA and they send the DMV docs for wet signatures that you over night back to the bank.

Did they by any chance give you an option to put some cash down during the process?

I think it's because ownership changes in a lease, not just lienors. It may also be North Carolina specific, I had my Ram leased through CCAP when I moved from Illinois and I had to have them send me the title to register the truck in state here.

I didn't ask about cash down during the process, that's a good question. I don't believe it would have any rate impact in my situation. We did confirm that the buyout was lower than their max valuation of the vehicle, had it not I'm sure I'd have to bring cash to the table, but not sure if we'd have had to do two checks for the payoff. Other option of course is I could do a principal payment today if I wanted.

Got it, that makes sense and I appreciate you following up.

At this moment I’m looking at buying out my 2022 Rubi 4xe lease at 22k miles. There’s a few high mileage folk on the Reddit subreddit and FB group. I’ve seen a bunch over 70k and one posted at 100k miles.

Based on my own super non scientific methods it seems you either get a solid 4XE or a complete and utter lemon that’ll live its life at the service center.
This is one of the reasons we leased both 4xe's. The other was the huge lease incentives in NJ. My wife won't keep her GC but I plan to buy my Willys out if I have no serious issues in the next year. So far so good at 12k miles. I've done several long trips with 90% or more ICE along with my daily commute of 16 miles on almost 100% electric. I've had one of every model Wrangler and all had their own issues. I really like this one and want to keep it. The only reason I will get rid of it is if it becomes riddled with issues or there is a great deal on a Rubicon, which I doubt will happen.

20K trouble free miles. I have off-roaded it a few times and have a heavy foot- it takes what I give it! If it weren't for the ridiculous residual, I would buy it out. Someone will get a good one next March.

Curious what your RV is at since we both have 2022 Rubicons.
