I leased a Willy's 4xE in June and I am very happy with it. Replaced my base 2020 Sport S and it has all of the features I want. I was happy with the Sport S but wanted the Willys package and the safety group.

Its leased, but I plan on buying at the end of the lease. How many folks plan to keep their 4xe for a few years? How many high mileage 4xes are out there? Looking at the up keep costs for these cars.

Thanks!

I'm at 45k miles on my '21 Rubicon 4xe. Aside from a couple recalls, I had a water pump go out, a leaky shock replaced, and a rear locker sensor replaced-all standard JL type issues, no problems at all with the hybrid system.

At this moment I’m looking at buying out my 2022 Rubi 4xe lease at 22k miles. There’s a few high mileage folk on the Reddit subreddit and FB group. I’ve seen a bunch over 70k and one posted at 100k miles.

Based on my own super non scientific methods it seems you either get a solid 4XE or a complete and utter lemon that’ll live its life at the service center.

Leased mine in Dec. Im on the fence about buying it out. 8 yr warranty on the battery make it attractive sans any major problems. My big concern\question will be how much the battery will cost in 8 yrs. if needed to be replaced and if there will be more efficent batteries available for this platform before the tentative refresh in 28.

Today a 4xe 17kWh battery should cost about $3,000 or less, since a Tesla 75kWh battery cost $13,000.

However Jeep might be doing Big 3 EV pricing magic with the 4xe battery.

My buddy has a Telsla with 60K miles on it. Battery failed. Covered under warranty but it would have been a 20K job or so. They replaced the batteries with refurbished ones. He is selling it.

And that is the issue.

Ive read some previous posts where people have gotten quotes just for curiosity sake and the battery was around 8-12K. I would bet that you are correct and they are overpricing them just because they can. As long as its under warranty today and for the next 7.5 years, Ill let Jeep eat the cost. After that, it will be crap shoot.

I aslo dont see the 4xe holding its value like the gas Jeeps because of the battery factor. But only time will tell.

I just turned in mine at the end of its lease. It wasnt the 4xe's fault. I just didn't like the buyout versus the going value for them right now. I had 36,000 problem free miles, except for having to take it in for those recalls. Oh I also had a leaky shock but that could have been the fluid film I put on.

I think if you buy a used one it will hold its value until close to the end of the hybrid warranty. I think the first owners will be the ones taking the hit.

None of these JL+ Wranglers will hold value, they have proven to be extremely flakey like other expensive modern vehicle.

People are currently paying $40k for a 2024 Wrangler 4xe with a MSRP of $60K, so the true value is a shell game.

Here is one invoice found online, these things have long warranty, so it's in the best interest of the manufacturer to artificially inflate the cost associated with the part, no better way to keep sticking it to the taxpayers. Starting with the $7,500 then+++++

While that is true, most of that price reduction has to do with the rebates and probably the model. I probably paid too much for mine but leased at the end of the year after all of the discounts were unavailable (more discounts during the summer months on these things) and still got 15K off with rebates and some dealer discount. Of course, this changed after the 1st of the year with a reduced EV discount. The 4xe is inflated for no real reason other than its an EV and they get the EV rebate. The gas models are still overpriced comparitivly to previous models\years but with a dealer or manf. discount, it takes the price down to what the 4xe is after the rebates. However, the gas model doesnt have to deal with the biggest depreciating item which is the battery.

Maybe, maybe not. For a 24, you are warrantied through 2032. If in fact the new model comes out in 28 and we have some decent advancements in tech, then it could come with a bigger battery. My lease ends in Dec. 27. If the 28 model is out and has more battery capacity with longer range (again, Im been optimistic and speculative), then I will be more inclined to trading it in for a 28. I think that most people would probably do that as well. And this wouldnt just limit it to the 4xe but all EV\PHEV across the board. If that were the case, then the 4xe would probably depreciate in value faster than is gas counterpart.

The way people are talking about these things is if they are investment vehicles.

For the most part the Wrangler is a niche vehicle, "better" value is easily found elsewhere dollar for dollar, buying for resale is a weird way of looking at the Wrangler. Then there is the value of the 4xe above the regular Wranglers which many seem to gloss over.

There is a lot of value that the 4xe has the 3.6 and 2.0T does not have, the two biggest is electric range and massive power.

Let's say you have to replace that battery after 8 years and it cost $5,000. Well the tax payer already paid for that replacement, and you have $2,500 left in your pocket, that $7,500 value stays with the 4xe regardless if you keep it or sell it, so even owners down the road get the benefit.

Leaving out the taxpayers subsidy as in my case, I have a 10 year warranty. Battery replacement cost is $5,000 that works out to less than $2 a day, me personally get more than $2 benefit a day from the 4xe over the 3.6.

The 4xe need to be looked at as a premium trim over the 3.6 and 2.0T, if you are not getting any benefit from the 4xe, then it's best not to touch it.
