Good to read you found the source of the stink! Awful smelling cars are a difficult problem to overcome.

fingers crossed they make it right for you

I made an inquiry to katzkin a few years ago and there cs was terrible. they said the local installer closest to me was about 200 miles away. I asked for the name of the installer as i wanted to check the installers reputation out. they would not give me the name. they said I had to make the order first then they would tell. That was a red flag to me.

I’m surprised at the lack of support you have received. Have you tried the social media route of posting pics and a review on their facebook, instagram, and any other social media site they have a presence on?

You can link the review back to this site and show them that their lack of customer support and product quality is being seen by a large demographic.

That sounds very familiar.

I am hoping @Katzkin will do the right thing without the need to go that route.

After a couple of calls and then a text to Katzkin today I am told my situation is being discussed to expect an update tmrw.

I would love to hear from others who have had challenges with this product on how things went as this might help with resolution discussions. Thanks.

The Jeep still stinks today, not as bad but still there. As soon as the heat is on the floor it gets worse.

Found this safety data sheet for this shit product the installer put under my seats, it talks about airway irritation, and says not to touch with bare skin, not to put on any visible surface. Says NOT to expose the product to heat.. It is 19F here today, some heat in my new vehicle without being slowly poisoned would be nice.

Since you located the source of the leather smell, isn't it just a matter of calling the installer to just tighten it up a bit??

What a buzz kill. Sorry you're experiencing this. I've thought about Katzkins for my JL but am a bit torn, actually liking the black cloth now. After this situation I'm inclined to stick with my OEM cloths + Carhartt seat covers. They're not sexy but they don't stink. Good luck and please update as able.

Thanks for your post.

After having leather in my past vehicles for several years I got into this great Rubicon XR that was on the lot and available at 5k off with cloth seats as a quick replacement for my stolen Mojave. I found the cloth not to be as supportive/comfortable and also not as dirt and dog friendly. The cost was within the insurance payout so I went for the Katzkins. It has been a big disappointment so far. On a positive note the seats are more comfortable than the cloth, but the associated negative impacts far outweigh the small comfort benefit.

Thanks for your post.

The odour is still present, it was not a nice leather smell, more of a burning plastic chemical smell.

I still need to clean the carpets where the packets were found then wipe down the entire interior.

The install is not great. I would not consider going back to the installer.

weird question, does your Katzkin label (the one pictured on the side profile you provided) have the mopar symbol on the other side?
