I just disabled Stop/Start in my '21 JLU, last night, using JScan.
Disabled Stop/Start, then disabled the Stop/Start menu.
From the Main vehicle screen, it's in the "adaptation" heading.

Seems to work fine. No odd icons or warnings on the display.
Did I just get lucky? Or am I missing something?

Edit - My version is v26.04.2025
Code: 1389-REL
Just curious if you have remote start.

I don't. I have a manual trans, which - as I understand it - was not compatible.

I don’t know…allegedly the JSCAN start stop was not working consistently with the exception of people with remote start. If it works for you that’s a win. Maybe @Rhinebeck01 or @THAW have some insight.

Hey... I could be jumping the gun. I just took it for a short test drive, although it was up to operating temp, and such. But it sure acts like it's disabled, now. (The button still acts like it always has.)
I did *nothing* with the hood switches. (JScan said they were present.)

FWIW... it looks like my JScan updated (does it do that automatically, on Android?) the last week of April.

On a side note, I also disabled the d@mn rear park assist. It was crying wolf all the time. Thankfully, I still know how to back up, and not hit stuff. The camera helps. ;)

@Raydar
To complete the full process, (so ESS is disabled) you need to physically disable the outer hood ajar plunger. The instructions are in the JSCAN doc. Yes, You will still get the small start/stop warning light on the EVIC

Most consider dealing with ESS using the JSCAN approach as a lame way of doing it.

@Terrymo
Remote Start gets stepped on when you physically disable the outer hood ajar plunger. So JL's with remote start if they go this JSCAN route will find remote start not working..

I did the exact same thing. Auto start stop still works.

Okay. You both may be right. I have some running around to do this afternoon. We'll see what happens. (My test drive seemed to indicate that it was "happily disabled" but, as I said, I could be wrong. Although it was fully warmed up, it was just around the block.)
I submit that, if it works, and I don't have any icons in the screen nagging me, that it's not lame.
Doing away with the AUX battery would seem to be the icing on the cake. But I'll cross that bridge, when I get to it.

What version of JScan are you using?

i got jscan and did what you did. but also disconnected the hood switch on the right when facing your jeep. when you turn your jeep on it warns you stop/stop is disabled and needs to be serviced. then display goes normal except for a small icon to the right your your miles display. i covered that warning light with black elec tape and have been happy. below is pic where i have service transmission issue cuz of dumb 19a clutch recall for my manual transmission but you can see the tape on my dash covering that warning light.

My father used that same tape trick to cover the flashing clock light on a VCR. 😂

And I was wrong...
After driving for ~15 minutes, and stopping, the engine dutifully shut off, as God and Stellantis had intended, all along. Time to drop back and punt.

Thanks for the info, guys.

After piddling around with it a couple more times, I have settled on the Fuse 42 removal, Aux battery disconnect, and unplugging the hood switch.
This has (apparently) disabled start/stop, and taken the Aux battery out of the loop. But now I have that annoying icon that tells me it's disabled. Even though I disabled stop/start, and its menus, with JScan. <sigh>

Thanks for all the advice. I appreciate it all, even though I don't always listen. (Being that guy who has to shoot my own foot.) :LOL:

Reconnect the hood switch; it's what's causing the dash light, and there's no ESS-related reason to have it unplugged once the AUX (ESS) battery is disconnected and fuse F42 is removed.
That's what I thought, too. But the engine still does the stop/start thing with it connected. (Yeah, goes against everything I've read. But...)
But I'll give it another try.

It will still auto stop, I just got an auto stop eliminator to make it go away. JScan does have some way of doing it by disconnecting the hood sensors, like you did, but I don’t know how to make the dash light issue resolve without the eliminator. Had mine for three years, no lights, no issues
