Sorry, I wasn't thinking clearly. As you stated, ESS will still work with the AUX (ESS) battery disconnected and F42 removed. The hood switch ESS-disable method does cause your dash light though.That's what I thought, too. But the engine still does the stop/start thing with it connected. (Yeah, goes against everything I've read. But...)
But I'll give it another try.
