I went to a couple dealerships in the Kirkland area and was told they wouldn't be able to do anything even close to that on an order. Claiming that they already sold their allotment at MSRP.

I just stood up and walked out. This was the same place that I saw a few years ago a line item on the sticker that just said:
DEALER MARKUP: 10,000

When I asked about it they said, "this vehicle is in high demand, so we add that to the price"

Sounds like BS to me.

San Leandro out in California said they are marking up their JL orders by 4% over MSRP, like I mentioned earlier.

That was the only dealer out of the 20 some odd that I came into contact with that had a crazy mark up.

Give them a lovely review with their price gouging tactics on Google Maps and Yelp to help save others from wasting their time.

I think the advice about not negotiating in person is useful.

Yep!

Also it's a good idea to do your homework. Know what the invoice price is. Let them know exactly what price YOU want the car for. If they won't bite, move on to another dealer.

It's worth it to take a few hundred mile drive to save yourself a few grand. I was considering a 16hr drive home if I couldn't find a California deal. Luckily I got a better price out here.

Is that Rairdon? I stopped by there last week and the guy said they had no info on the JL at all.

Yeah Rairdon.

The salesman was super nice but didn’t seem to get that I wanted a JL. He did offer me 6k off a 50k rubicon recon. It just wasn’t the same though.

I’m talking to a few other dealers in the area now and will be happy to just get 2%.

Sounds like Rairdon is #2 dealer (volume) in the country. They claim.

Might have something to do with their reasoning for not offering competitive prices.

I’m talking to a couple other dealers outside the 20 mike bubble. I’ll keep this thread posted.

Higher volume typically means they'll sell for lower prices. Not the other way around. At least that's my experience in California.

Smaller dealers with lower volume need maximum profit to stay afloat.

I bought my 2013 JKU Sport from a Rairdon dealer in Bellingham. The sales guy was good and I got 3% under invoice using Treadlightly. That sales guy is no longer there and none of the current people know anything about the new JL, except that "they are going to be the same, so don't wait, buy what we have on the lot." Seriously, makes me wonder what the heck they do all day. 20 minutes on this forum and you'd be well versed. Needless to say, they will not be on the short list. I'm hoping the place in Spokane that claims they will match Koons will come through and I'll just fly over and then drive home. If you are in Seattle area, that isn't too far for a few thousand in savings in my opinion.

If I can get 3% local it probably isn’t worth the trip to get the other 2% IMO. Isn’t that like 800$? I assume plane ticket would eat up a couple hundred of that.

I'm not real confident that they will be willing to do 3% under on these. They seem to rely more on the uninformed buyer. That's fine and maybe provides them more profit, but doesn't work for someone like me. I have a hard time parting with my money even when it's something I really want. If I can fly to Spokane for $150 and save $900 on the purchase, it's worth it to me, especially if there isn't any BS to deal with. It will give me a good opportunity to bask in the warm fuzzy feeling of a new JL as I cruise back across the mountains.

A break-in road trip does sound cool. Especially through eastern WA.

Dealership closed early lastnight so I should have confirmation later today if they can do it or not.

Any pricing info yet from dealerships in SoCal? I'm looking for a 2-DR JL Rubicon fully loaded (except for the smoker's group) with manual transmission (firecracker red). I live near San Diego but am willing to drive if necessary.

Today I'm going to check out the lake elsinore jeep dealer (socal) see if I can get 3% under invoice on a loaded Rubicon. I feel like socal dealers are not going to budge but we'll see...
