You need the FOB to start the vehicle, so if it's close enough to start, say the workbench, and then you drive off, you won't be able to restart it if you shut it off while out of range.

I am fully aware of this. Was just pointing out that once it is running, the FOB does not need to stay in the Jeep for it to continue to keep running.
