JL making weird intermitting noise from under passenger side

Hi everyone
On my way home from work
My jeep started making a very weird noise. It will start and stop randomly, and the engine and brake don’t affect how or when it sounds.

Sure it was not your drug dealer coming after you with a machine gun for not paying your bills. Anyhow my best guess.

Can you make any determination where the sound is coming from, even as close at the rear or upfront?

The goal is to try and isolate the sound.

Does your jeep perform properly at all speeds and in braking?

What it sound like in the video ( I do not think this it) it sounds like a missing spark plug or plugs that was seated properly and is leaking air around the threads, I would bet it has nothing to do with your issue, but it could be something similar.

It appears to be an intermittent staccato sound. Does it do it at idle? if so can it do it at a dead stop, lift the hood and try to pinpoint?

Hey thanks for the interest.
the sound is coming from under the passenger side just behind the wheel.
And the sound doesn’t change with driving or braking at all..
It does do it as the jeep is sitting still and in park. That’s how I was able to take the video.
so it will turn on for about 30 seconds to a minute, then turns off for about the same.
does anyone know what those to little hoses go into? and I was thinking it could be some kind of relay switch failing?

It sounds like an exhaust leak to me; though, I am far from a scientist.

Kinda with everyone else, Ive never heard anything like it. Since that was at idle, I wouldnt think it had anything to do with the engines rotational assembly. It sounds too fast for that and I dont think it would just start and stop if it were.

Now, a quick search and the below link sounds like what your video is doing. Granted it is on a JK but the sound itself along with the speed of it is very similar.

That’s correct. It’s the same when stopped and driving. But I did notice the noise is quieter when the engine is cold. I needed to move it yesterday and it was quite abit quieter

Unplug the recirculation door actuator, retest.
