Thanks!! I'll be getting some of these now as well, ha.
Your Jeep looks like Sting Grey? My wife's Sahara is Sting Grey. Changings colors different light.
It has the power top. I like it but I went with the Hardtop on my Rubicon.

Not sure what you will be using to remove the top but the TPL is nice to have. I love mine. Easy to remove and store.

Love the Jeeps! Thanks!! I've been getting a ton of ideas the past 4 months as mine was being built. I have a Sting Grey with the SOT top. Figured I'd give it a go since it was new and I've had a soft top before. Convenience can't be beat, but still getting use to it.

I've pretty much got a lot of the small stuff ordered, installed, or on a list. It's time for tires, wheels... and the bigger $ items.

My wife drives the Wagoneer. So nice! Way to big, ha.

Yea I liked the SOT but just couldn't get used to how it looked even with the side panels off.

I couldn't keep her out of it so I retired early and let her have it and got my Rubi.

My son lives in Florida so I know how the pop-up rain showers can hit you anywhere. The ease of closing the SOT and then open after shower passed is nice.

One thing I found out quick in Texas is that black top is very hot parked in Texas sun very long.
But would open top while AC starting and let hot air out then closed.

I have been using this. Its made for the Twill top. Looks brand new still. Bird poop wipes right off.
I really soaked top 3 times first year. Wanted a good coat to start with.

Congrats on your Jeep !!! Lot of info and really nice Jeepers on forum.

I bought the pins from TMR Customs. They are are black and made of Delrin. I put a pin on the upper and lower hinge which defeats the guidance purpose but does protect the paint. The door weight felt heavier than my JK but as someone already pointed out, it’s actually lighter. My biggest issue was putting them on, my driveway is slanted, I’m out of shape and it was 90 degrees the other day so my hands started sweating and slipping a bit. It’s awkward putting them back on but really awkward at a slant. Best thing to do with the door bolts is drop them in the storage slots in the back and forget they came on the Jeep.

I concur - 25 to 30 pounds. Very easy to handle. I also agree that door pins are amazing! makes door handling MUCH easier

any concerns about doors flying off if you are ever in an accident?

I’m under the impression that they can’t be that much help. I mean if you have them off and go flipping down the road vs them bolted on, maybe they help a little? I just don’t depend on them to help me. I rely more on the roll cage and seatbelt.

Sorry for the thread drift, but can you guys explain HOW the door hinge pin bolts protect the paint?

I keep hearing this, but not sure I understand. Is it more from using a ratchet on the original bolts and hitting the paint? Or is the problem in dropping the doors back into the hinges?

Thanks!

I'll chime in. Once you remove the factory bolt you screw off and you can feel how jagged and sharp the ends that you screw onto are.

The pins are shaped like the end of a bullet and are smooth. I find it so much easier to guide them and let them slide down without worry about the sharp edges knocking the hinge.

They are stainless steel. I just leave mine on for both sets of doors. The tube door is not very close up pic.

Thx! Makes sense.

love your rig BTW!!
Thanks, once you remove the factory bolt from door hinge and remove door you will see the end you screw onto is sharp and jagged. I can see why others have said it knocks chips off hinge.

They are not that heavy. One person has no issue removing them. Front doors of course little more weight.

May I suggest you purchase Door Pins for they make it so much easier to remove and put doors back on without chipping the paint on your hinges. I leave mine on all the time.

I use set for half-doors too.

I just got these in today and installed them. I'm certainly less nervous now about scratching the Jeep when I put the doors back on. One question though; should some of the thread on the top pin be exposed after install? I assume they should since the top pin is much longer but just want to be 100% sure.

Yes, just like mine. I know it gives my peace of mind lower pin into hinge. I really like mine.
