So quick question.

Has anyone told the dealer to not do a PDI and let you be there when they're first inspecting it (also so that I can run through the check list there with them)? My dealer had a lot of the "optional" dealer addons with the sticker attached to the vehicles on their lot -- granted these were stock vehicles and not customer orders. But they included things like window tint, Kahu asset protection, door cups and edge guards, "nitrogen tires", VTR, etc. I will obviously tell them I don't want any of this crap on my vehicle, but for instance the BMW dealer that did the PDI on my wife's 335i did it improperly and damaged it. Obviously they fixed it, but it was annoying.

I'd also prefer them not to wash it, and just take it to my detail guy for paint correction, ppf, and tint.
I'm with you, I wanna drive mine home with all the plastics on it. And make it clear (and get it in writing): absolutely NO dealer add-ons. No locking lugs, no vin etching, no nada.

Exactly! Will dealers do that?!

Just picked up my 2019 JLUR yesterday, soft top only. I did get the cubby mat , ACC cover, trailer hitch cover, torx tool kit,got the straps for the windshield ,however I did not get the what appears to be longer straps possibly to tie down the soft top when it's in its down position? I do not have any locking nuts on the entire vehicle so therefore no lug nut key obviously. No owners manual what Strange's this past weekend I went snooping in a dealership parking lot and I sat inside a brand new 2019 jlur and there was a nice pull string camouflage bag inside the center console with an owner's manual in it! What the heck LOL
That's not the full owner's manual, they are two short basic need to know manuals. The full one online is almost 600 pages.

I gave the sales manager and prep manager the checklist with some extra items added. I was there as they prepped it. They did everything on the list.
Are you not planning to go offroad with yours? Because my JK has a thousand scratches and pits that would have been a waste to detail it from the beginning.

I will, but I don't mind spending a few hundred in paint correction to ensure the paint is the best from the start. Also, ppf will help reduce that, have had it on other Jeeps in past. Will do my own ceramic coating as well.. you would be surprised how much that sacrificial layer of wax/ceramic coat/xpel really helps off road (and prevents damage to the clear -- especially big here in AZ). If you're just kicking up small rocks/hitting branches and things, it helps a lot since it's slow speed. My JK is my crawler though, the JLU will never be that. Just also helps as you don't have to wash it as often as water beads right off and dirt has a tendency to not stick as easily.

But yes, i'm not planning on spending crazy money detailing it (the XPEL will be on the hood and fenders only, and that's not very expensive). I mostly just don't want the dealer to screw it up, and want to do my own tint/detail. $400 for tint at the dealer, and it's not even good tint. I prefer to use the crystalline that allows 90% light through, but blocks the bad. I also tint the windshield.

Also, lol -- they charge $400 for "lifetime nitrogen tires" -- I mean good god I can't believe people fall for this shit.

No big rocks for me but tight forest trails. I get the scratches filled every fall by a lady that does miracles at making them disappear.

Ah, that's good. I just prefer to try to protect as efficiently as I can from the start. Not a lot of tight forest stuff here.

Just sent my sales guy an e-mail and told him to confirm they will not install any of the dealer addons or I will not accept the vehicle... I have a good discount and I can certainly see them trying to pull something like that to make additional profit and then just claim "oh, all vehicles just have that installed automatically" as in "we can't remove it, it's already installed, sorry!"

I have a buyers order that lists everything out and a final sale price when i ordered my JL. Only thing that would change that is if i add something. If they decide to put something on like tint etc i dont know how they could stick me with the added cost when i did not authorize it. I know there are sales guys out there who try to pull stuff like this but shit, just walk toward the front door.

Figured it may be a good idea to isolate a single thread to find information on what should be coming with your new JL, as I’m sure some folks have gotten shafted already and not received all the little extras upon delivery. Not everyone knows that info, so here’s what I have gathered thus far (feel free to chime in and I’ll edit if I’m missing items):

1. Two sets of keys
2. Jeep mini ratchet set/Torx (for hardtop/windshield/doors)
3. Lugnut key (if you have locking lugs)
4. Freedom top storage bag (if equipped)
5. Carpet floor mats standard (but not if all season mats are equipped)
6. JL Wrangler Owners Manual/Warranty guide (may just be in your Jeep’s infotainment system only). Not 100%, but can be printed if requested directly through Jeep.
7. Jeep hitch receiver rubber insert (if trailer towing group is equipped)
8. Towing Pkg only: small baggie with tubing and splices.
9. Rubicon only: MOPAR Black Fuel Filler Door
10. Block heater option, you need to be sure you get the removable cord that is part of the block heater kit (and look under your hood for it if not in a separate bag)
11. Rear Cargo cubby rubber mat (on 4 door)
12. Rubber mats inside your center console
13. Velcro straps if you have a sun rider top
14. If you get the Trail Management Cargo System, the cargo compartment floor-mat is included
15. Trail Management Cargo System option should include 6 tie down blocks

Also, ensure you get registered for the “Jeep Wave Program” because your new JL will receive complimentary maintainence for a period of time.

CONFIRMED NOT INCLUDED:
Windshield tie downs

What am I missing?
Check Freedom Top panel alignment, hopefully a service visit can correct.

Well technically you haven't bought the vehicle until you complete the paper work in the financing office. They could easily just take the vehicle, add all the stuff and then refuse to sell it to you otherwise, hanging the fact that you have waited 8-10 weeks for your Jeep thinking you'll just bend. Shady for sure, but this is what I'm worried about, and is why I asked for written confirmation that they will not do this. I have yet to receive a reply but it was sent on a Friday evening. I don't anticipate it to be a problem, but looking out for myself either way.

I am no laywer but with a deposit i believe a buyers order is a legally binding contract. If i back out of the deal for no good reason i will NOT get my $1,000 deposit back. If you did not put a deposit down then that could be a mistake on your part.

Doesn’t work that way. Sadly had this experience a dozen or so of times (incl friends) with Porsche. I’m sure it can vary from state to state as well. But you don’t own the car until everything is signed. Additionally many states require the deposit to be refundable irrespective of what the dealer makes you sign.

Of course you dont own the car yet, i never said you do but you keep saying that. But if they are pulling this stuff when you have a contract get your deposit back and move on. I would just file a CC dispute. There are other dealers who will shoot you straight. If you are letting them walk all over you simply because you want the car now that is on you.

I made my statement based on your binding contract statement. Sorry if I misinterpreted that. I agree though, walk away. And I think disputing the charges might depend on how long it took for delivery... some cc's will give you a huge hassle if you try to dispute past 90 days. But I would also try.

But anyway, I did not put a deposit down as in my experience they've been completely worthless and do nothing but put the risk on you. They don't actually help you in any way. Sorry, maybe I am just overly pessimistic after my experience in the sports car world. But I think as long as I get in writing they don't try to add anything, then at least I'm on the same page as the dealer as to expectations on that front. They really haven't given me any reason to be concerned.

So overall, best way to protect yourself is :

1) Have buyer's order in writing with agreed to price.
2) Have in writing that they will not add anything to the vehicle w/o your consent that does not come from the factory and is part of the original order.

Is there any way a deposit can help that I might be missing?
