It goes with the saying "jeepers help jeepers". If a keeper is broken down on the road, you help them. If a keeper is stuck in mud or sand, you pull them out. A jeep is not just a vehicle, it is a lifestyle.
Very well said. I wave.

100% return waves today! Hell must have frozen up. Even saw my first JL on the road while I was in mine. Awesome!

How many of you drive a 2nd vehicle, significant other's non-Jeep vehicle, etc. and either think "oops, can't wave, I'm not in my Jeep, damn" or you do wave out of habit and the Jeep driver looks at you in a strange way?
I drive a truck while I'm working, and I still always wave out of habit. I usually get a very puzzled look, and enjoy it just as much as when they wave back. Then again, every now and then I get someone else that waves back (probably out of habit as well), and when they finally process that Im not in a Wrangler, they give the expression like they want to take it back, but it's too late...lol that's my favorite response!

Seems odd to me that the moderators moved this thread from the general topics. Seems pretty general to me. I guess technically waving is communications. Oh well... that’s their call to make.:)

Hahaha SCORE!

I saw 4 Jeeps today and waved at all 4. They waved back! Was awesome! Three were heavily modded, 2 were white, suspension was lifted, had gorgeous tires and rims and the other was a dark grey with a modded front bumper (his was lifted too)! Man those were some legit Jeeps! Hardcore modded!

Hehe the 4th Jeep was a Mojito! From San Antonio @GrassHopper2018 ! Lol I actually saw her park and i drove up behind them and i talked to her and her hubby in the road lol. Other people drove around us! Apparently they recognized me from this forum! What a legittt day! :)

I wave most of the time...above 80% wave back. I am in New jersey.
And they (especially the NYers) "wave" with the middle finger, right?

Try the motorcyclist "wave" in Europe and you'll find no one acknowledges it. Same in Taiwan... To many people on motorcycles, so it's not special and you would be constantly "waving" at everyone that met you in traffic.
Not true in my experience in Europe, I ride extensively in the Alps yearly, been doing it for a week at a time with a German buddy of mine for 14 years now. We ride between 2,500 km and 4,000 km during the week so we cover a lot of ground and see tons of bikes. My guess is close to a third of the riders wave. If it’s a group (more than one bike), it’s typically someone near the back of the pack that waves. As for Taiwan, the scooter riders don’t wave, that’s for sure, your arm would be exhausted after a mile or two given the numbers of scooters. Not sure about bigger bikes, the Taiwanese people are very nice and social. I’ve spent a lot of time in Taiwan, on business, over the last 20+ years, mostly in the northwestern part of the island.

Well, I never encountered a wave in Greece and I don't remember seeing any around Rome either, but I haven't ridden a bike that much around Europe, so maybe I was generalizing a bit from just those two places.

I spent a month in Taiwan riding and they might talk on their cell phones while on their scooters, but they sure don't wave... :)

Do you take your bike to Europe with you or do you just rent something when you are over there?

I rent from a BMW dealer in Erding (outside of Munch). The dealer name is Karl Maier, BMW, he gets a new fleet of rental BMW’s every year. I rented a 2018 R1200R this year, we ride typically the 3rd week of June, before the vacation season hits high gear.

How much does it end up costing you to rent one for a week?
