Now lets see figures on what percentage of Wranglers sold are base models. Then lets compare the Wranglers that actually sell to the other mid-size SUVs out there that also actually sell.
Not impressed by base model comparisons? How about looking at the highest trim level of each?

392:
Model YearHighest Trim LevelStarting MSRPYearly % Change
2021Rubicon 392$74,995
2022Rubicon 392$77,4903.33%
2023Rubicon 392$79,9953.23%
2024Rubicon 392$82,4953.13%
2025Rubicon 392$92,00011.52%

22.77% overall increase.

Braptor:
Model YearHighest Trim LevelStarting MSRPYearly % Change
2021First Edition$59,305
2022Raptor$68,50015.51%
2023Raptor$86,08025.64%
2024Raptor$88,5252.84%
2025Raptor$90,0001.67%

51.73% overall increase.

Unfortunately these data points don't seem to fit your narrative.

Yes, I guess it's one of those things.

But at least we spend more money per student than any other country. As Bill Murray would say, "So we got THAT going for us!" ;)
We spend more per student? Don't we spend a little over 3% of our GDP on K-12 public education while countries like Israel spend nearly 5%?

My gawd. You can't make this sh!t up...
Look, you fanboys can try to deflect all you want but it doesn't change the facts. The whole "look over there" and "this guy is at it again" routines only work on you. No one else is fooled.

You kids have fun in your circle jerk.

Aren't we showing explicit data points that directly refute your claims?

My information was old. I stand corrected. We now rank 5th out of the ~35 countries listed. We still spend much more than most, including Israel, Germany, France, the UK, Denmark, Sweden, Japan, Finland, Hungary, Latvia, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Canada… And we perform terribly. Here's a more current spending comparison, followed by some data describing how our academic performance compares.

I wish I could say I was proud of our performance….. It looked very different in 1960.

I've owned several Wranglers in my lifetime and this is the first time I've seen such a huge decline in the residual/trade value of a Jeep. I tend to get a new car every 1-2 years and usually the Wrangler is one of the best vehicles to own when it comes to holding their value. My current '24 fully loaded Rubicon X ($78.5K MSRP) currently has lost 40%+ in one year. I know Jeep has had huge decline in sales and they are discounting new models heavily but, question is, could the rumors be true that a huge price reduction is on the way which is impacting current trade values?
All traceable back to interest rates.. to cool inflation. Always seems back asswards to me but, high interest stops borrowing which stops buying which cost’s jobs go figure.

The stupid have always been around. It's just more apparent with the internet and communications we have available to us now. Growing up as a military brat, I lived in a lot of different locations. It isn't worse, it is just more obvious to everyone. In fact, I would say it's better overall with less isolation.

I agree stupid behavior isn’t new, but I’m confident it’s more prevalent. That’s consistent with the downward deflection in our relative academic performance (and what I’m seeing in the hiring pool).

Are you sure you don't remember your parents' generation making the same observations? It's a recurring theme.

I will say I am seeing some steep discounts on Broncos around here and not as much on wranglers. For example, the one below which does come with a locking diff. I guess comparable would be a Willys? Also, looks like Ford is doing an extra $2k discount for “Jeep competitive conquest bonus cash”, ha!

I clicked on that link. Nice looking two door Bronco. But financing roughly $41,000 = $778/month for 60 months at 4.9% interest? Wow. That's a lot. But I'm a boomer who's paid cash for his last few vehicles, so maybe I'm out-of-the-loop as to what folks are paying/financing nowadays.

Just checked my 21 JLUW 3.6 v6 and private party is $28k - $33k on KBB and Nada Guides is about the same. Not bad for a car I bought used 2 years ago w/ 21k miles and paid $37 for (but they gave me $10k trade on a 10yr old BMW 135i that had 100k miles. Still can’t believe they gave mbe that much for it)

My parents‘ were of the depression/WW2 generation. They were plenty critical of what they saw as my generation’s softness, and lack of work ethic and commitment to “duty”. They thought the country was “going to hell and a hand-basket” during the turmoil of the late 60s and early 70s, and they didn’t like our preferences in music and many other things, but they never expressed concern about the basics of our education system, and they never worried that the kids being produced by other first-world countries were better educated, more fit, more capable, and more prepared to contribute in every respect. Their recurring theme was “you kids sure have it easy — now get to work!”

My parents were right, of course. No student of history doubts that they had it much harder/worse during the depression and WW2. Many of them really DID walk two miles in the snow to get to school every day…

Thanks to some great and committed parents, we’re still producing lots of great, smart, well-educated kids who are as capable as American kids have ever been, but the average American high school kid is now more likely to be fat, poorly educated compared to his parents and foreign counterparts, and entitled, unchallenged, soft, and lazy. There’s ample objective evidence of all of this. Some of that evidence is shown in the data posted above, but it’s also reflected in piles of research focusing on recruiting challenges in the American military and workforce.

I don’t think anyone should finance more than $20k for a vehicle. I think that’s a big part of why many are upset about their trade in values because they put very little cash down (I know not all of you). I don’t have a car payment anymore, but my wife and I always had a rule that it has to be under $200/month.

Back on topic.

You guys have convinced me that Stellantis price increases have been higher than others, except Ford. And GM, John Deere, CanAm, Polaris, Tiffin, Winnebago, Boston Whaler, Grady White, and every other vehicle manufacturer I’ve looked at in the last year or so.
