Jeep Redesign Coming?

Codenamed J70, the most technologically advanced Wrangler of them all is getting BEV and REPB versions.

I think this would be ok, if they keep the technology in the powertrain and keep it really simple and focused, with reliability being the number one concern.

I don't really trust them to do that. lol.

A properly engineered Jeep with electric propulsion could probably get ridiculous. Especially if each wheel had its own motor! You don't have to deal with driveshafts or differentials or lockers. It could end up being mechanically a lot simpler... except for the battery charging part lol.

I ponder if they used a small battery and the generator, if it would still end up being a more flexible offroading platform.

I'm on the same page for an EREV. My only concern is the space required. How do you cram an engine, battery, and solid axles into something the same size as the current two door JL? I'm curious to see. While I probably won't buy it (I like my JL too much), if they do it right, might be my kid's first vehicle.

The more I think about Bronco's, they're like a wide-axle version of a mid-aughts Hummer H3 with an optional open top.

I'm not mad if that's the direction Jeep goes, but IFS will be the wrong medium for off-road enthusiasts.

Whatever Jeep does, they need to shake the Stellantis stink of poor service and "It's a Jeep Thing, you wouldn't understand" -quality issues like failing cams, parts corroding in dry sunny weather, and electrical gremlins that would make mid-80's VW/Audi models blush.

An optional 5.7 would make a lot of people happy. I bet we get more 4xE though. Maybe they'll finally drop the boat anchor 3.6. Ahoy!

Ok, I ‘ll say it. I don’t buy 2-door jeeps for their off road performance. I buy them because I love how they look, how I can remove the top and doors for a near-motorcycle driving experience, and their ‘relative’ simplicity. I don’t need 4-wheel drive and would be happy to buy a 2-wheel drive version if available. I could also live with an independent front suspension/steering rack for tighter steering. Blasphemy I suppose.

Improvements in quality and reliability take the right leadership at the corporate level combined with a long term commitment to see it through to the end result. Unfortunately, this is boring and hard to sell to the general public or Wall Street. So we get new models like the 4xe with glitzy features that make the vehicle more complicated and less reliable. Lets see what the new leadership at Jeep can do

ATV/UTV/sxs, whatever you call them, those razor like 4 wheelers that evidently can be road driven? How many of those pass any form of safety inspection, crash test, etc? None. yet everyday in my area 4 people crammed into one trying to do 55 down the highway to the local bar.

Why not make a jeep with modern engine with option for 3.6 diesel, 5.7 to 392 gas?, Use CJ7 like body with a roll cage? No radio. AC is $1,000. No electric windows. 6 speed gertrag tranny, AX transfer case. Oh, and a fuel tank I can go 400 miles. Comes stock with 35 and 4.88.

I wish they'd do the now old concept Shortcut. Include half doors and a soft top.


Modern hidden tech for people who want to use an ipad or phone for mapping.



But otherwise simple, small, and not so pricey that it's like a mortgage on a home anymore.


I also have a bias towards older grill styles (like 50's and 60's), so I'd like to see some options for customizing them.

What’s the chances of a Jeep redesign coming soon? New management might want to put their stamp on a new Jeep look.

last redesign was in 2020 i believe with an uplift (upgrade the dash and more noise proofing, hood wobble solution etc) for 2024.

Oh. and besides having amsoil as the primary oil, seriously, they need an engine with true roller rocker valvetrain, higher tension rings, and without plastic bits holding it all together.

With the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 expected to be dropped in 2028, the most likely candidate for a combustion-engined Wrangler comes in the form of the 2.0-liter Hurricane I4. It would be only natural for the folks at FCA US LLC to sweeten the deal with the 3.0-liter Hurricane I6, a twin-turbo sixer that powers – believe it or not – the 2025 model year Ram 1500 TRX. Clearly not as exciting as the 6.2-liter Hellcat V8, said engine makes 510 horsepower and 500 pound-feet (678 Nm) in the Jeep Grand Wagoneer.



Yeah they got it wrong, there is no 25 TRX ( in the US), and the Hurricane powered "offroader" is dubbed the RHO. Rumor has it that the TRX will return for 26, due to the manglement change....

With the combination of new management, tariffs, ending EV subsidies and lower (or no) US gas mileage requirements, it's fair to say all bets are off. My guess is the JL might get a few extra years.

The BMW i3 did it. On small EVs, the mini and fiat 500 EVs are tiny, but don't offer generators. Granted, they are extremely niche vehicles and only now does the i3 seem to have a following lol.

I think generator motors can be made a bit smaller than drivetrain motors.

There's a... few people who have stuffed EV drivetrains into CJs and other jeeps so I don't really think it's impossible.
