Just ask @cosine he knows!
Yep, rescue dogs seem to know that you've taken them to a better place, and they reward you w/ even more unconditional love. It's almost surely a huge win for the dog and an even bigger win for the owner, at least that's been our experience, we've had 6 pound pups :)

I think I need a fawn colored pup to go with my Gobi with black fenders...what do you guys think? Does Hell Beast need a younger brother or sister?

Try ginger cookies, they may help settle tummy. We had a spaniel mix who would get carsick until she was almost 2, she would make "the face" and we'd hold up double grocery bags (yes, we trained her to use them) but that only helps if you have a passenger. She eventually stopped getting sick when we started letting her ride more forward facing/in the front seat, which was good because she loved car rides! good luck, your baby is super cute!
We had a pup that went through some of that. We went to no food before the ride ( or lots of time for it to sit well) and just did short trips that got a little longer as time went on. The ginger might work also. I would let them set a while before the ride. Also fresh air with the window down some if possible.
Might also just grow out of it.
Good luck with that pup.
Mesa is a cutie!!

My dog got carsick a lot as a pup (she still doesn’t do as well on twisty roads). My vet recommended Dramamine and it helped a lot.

I still pack paper towels and ziplock bags on our trips to the beach, just in case.
Thanks, y'all!! I've tried dramamine without much success. I'll have to try ginger cookies next time and see if that helps. Vet prescribed something called Cerenia, which is a dog-specific anti-nausea pill, but it's $20/pill so I was going to wait and use it for a drive longer than five minutes. Windows open didn't help, but I may go radical and take the top off and see if that improves his experience some. Maybe the fully open air experience, while safely tethered, might ease any claustrophobic feelings.

But, I've just more or less resigned myself to having to leave him behind on serious Jeep adventures this summer. And just hope like heck he's over this in time to come to Moab with me next winter.

I think the more you take him for short trips, up and down the driveway, around the block, you will acclimate him to riding.Even just sitting in the Jeep, parked at home, works wonders. Lots of praise, and a small treat getting in and out. Parked, and then in motion, will help determine if it is stress, or the motion sickness that is the culprit.
Don't give up, having your Buddy with you is "priceless"

Thank you. :) Yeah, there's a nice park with some easy hiking trails just a few minutes away so we've been doing short drives to there more or less daily to try and acclimate him and make Jeep rides = fun! I think it's probably a combo of both physical motion sickness, which then makes him anxious, and the cycle goes around and around.

I'm not gonna give up completely, though. But he'll probably have to skip camping at Monache Meadows next month, lol. Not ready for the off-road stuff by any stretch, heh.

This morning I saw this picture posted in regard to a JL owner's, Threedom key hole caps..

I figured I'd repost the pic here to give the dog in the pic his/her reward/recognition, for being so patient..

Got me thinking ....Perhaps the dog was thinking "what the woof"... how come the key hole covers are not the paw design that Threedom sells.
