This seems like a fantastic process to allow people to build only what they want and open the market up to those who can't afford the higher priced vehicles (I know the Sport is out there, but this goes even further). Just my 2 cents, but I'd love to be able to do this to a Wrangler. Like, why do all of the 4xe's have to have that awful blue everywhere and the Rubicon's have to have that red?

I was a big fan of Slate when they announced their original "under 20k" price. Now it's going to end up being at least 30k with taxes for a base Slate with 150 miles range (in perfect conditions).

I think the company is making some really bad decisions and I'm starting to doubt this thing will come to market at all. I got my $50 deposit back.

I mean that’s $50 for the French Fry Fund that might have been lost on something that may never happen.

He's at least in a later time zone than us. What's our excuse, @Terrymo? 🤣
I’m shattering dreams 24/7. It’s a gift really. My motto. Don’t forget to be an asshole today because there’s people out there being happy that don’t deserve it. Just (mostly) kidding.

You don't think they could learn anything from the customization and ordering process? Jeeps are like giant adult legos. I would think it could be a huge boost to the ordering process for customers if they offered better customization options up front. Again, just my opinion.

And, oh yeah, Jeep has it down pat with delivering quality products. They could learn stuff from ANYONE at this point.

My Rubicon has no red as a delete option... but the locker inlay is.

Promise something then not deliver on it and charge 10k+ more on the product? Yea Jeep is pretty good at that already.

Also Jeep is one of the few auto makers out there you can personalize an order and have it built for you still. Try that with Honda and Toyota and they will laugh you out of the building.

Just as a side anecdote when I was buying my Jeep I went to 3 different dealers telling them what I wanted to get and asked if it could be ordered and they all told me "We don't do that. What we have on the lot is what you can buy." So I also got laughed out of 3 Jeep dealerships.

But they were just full of shit and being lazy. Both Toyota and Honda just get an allocation of vehicles and can put in requests for a few things but nothing specific. VS Jeep where you can get it with your name on the window sticker.

All companies used to do this 50 years ago. Then they figured out they could improve quality and make more money by using trim levels and packages of options.
