I'll revive this thread from the dead with a note.

I have a fairly new liftmaster garage door opener, clearly a rolling code version. Could not get the first step to complete where you hold down the button in the Jeep and the remote at the same time. Replaced the batteries. Tried many combinations of pressing the remote button every 10 seconds etc. Tried holding at different distances. Nothing.

Finally I went to our other car and used that remote. Worked straight away. So there is some magic with the remotes - the one what worked was branded liftmaster so probably is original. The one that did not work was a generic no name amazon remote. Works fine to open and close the door, but some some reason homelink does not like it.

Programming the gate was the same too - generic remote did not work, liftmaster remote worked straight away.

I are not going to spent the time to work out why, but through that this might help some other folks.

Adding this post since I followed this thread with my new JL and was pulling my hair out trying to get HomeLink to work with my garage door opener.

I have a Linear LD050 opener that came with the current house. No idea how old it is. We got a garage door remote with the house which I gave to the wife and my previous car had HomeLink and worked with no issues with the LD050. The remote we had was not name brand. No idea where the previous owners got it from.

Fast. forward and I bought my new JL

When I would try to sync my JL with the remote, I would never get the fast flashing blue lights indicating it was able to detect and match the frequencies with the remote (only the slow blink). I also tried the red program button on the opener and it would flash the bulb but never connected to the Jeep. I was able to verify I could reprogram the old remote to the opener with no issues.

Based on a comment on this forum, I decided to try just getting a new remote on Amazon. Nothing special about the one I purchased (chinese-made). I took it out to program the Jeep HomeLink to the remote and I got the flashing blue light within 2 seconds. I was then able to open the garage door without even touching the opener's red program button. No idea why the old remote wouldnt work with my JL but here we are.

Hope this can help others.
