JLU Rubicon 2.2 MultiJet Diesel
Hi everyone. Tony here.

New JLU Rubicon owner in the UK. I collected mine yesterday from the dealer.
It is just under 6 months old with 2000 miles on it, in Sting Grey with the three piece hard top.
It has the 2.2 Multijet diesel fitted with 8 speed auto.

After a 200 mile drive home, I am loving it already.
We've had a couple of 4 litre petrol 2 door TJ's in the past, but the JL is in a different league.

I was so impressed after a test drive a couple of weeks ago at our local Jeep dealer that I decided to sell both my Land Rover Defender 110 and my Skoda Superb 4x4 estate car, and replace with the JL.

I'm so pleased I have discovered this forum and I am already picking up useful information. Fitting dashcams today, so I will be hunting for the aux wiring bundle underneath the glovebox. I wonder if the wiring location will be on the other side for right hand drive vehicles??!!

Looking forward to many years of happy JL motoring.

All the best from the UK.

Tony

For love nor money, I couldn't find the interior AUX wiring loom as shown in other posts.

So in the end for the front dashcam, I ran a direct fused feed from the battery to the dashcam power module, which I mounted behind the left hand side internal footwell kick panel on the left hand side. (Passenger side in UK :) ).
For the rear, I tapped into the permanent live 12v accessory socket in the back of the Wrangler.
My dashcam power modules have battery saving functionality so they cut off when the battery vehicle voltage drops too low.

Next challenge will be to fit a trailer wiring loom. I'm trying to find out what 13 pin european spec kits are available, and if they are plug and play friendly. Or if they are similar to the US ones, which seem to involve a major strip out of the vehicle and adding pins to some of the harness plugs!!!!

Hi all! I just picked up my 2019 JLU Sport 6-speed in Granite Crystal last weekend, taking advantage of the $299/mo 4-year lease deal from Jeep - no brainer for my spare vehicle. This is Wrangler #3 for me; previous two were a '95 YJ and a '12 JKU. Jeep knocked it out of the park with the JLU. Seems a tad better than my JKU in just about every category. The new manual transmission is buttery smooth; a real joy to row. No crazy wobbles at highway speed, like I read about. January '19 build right off the truck, so maybe they nudged the welder to tack everything down properly! :like:

Here she was at pickup last Saturday:

Here she is today with a few lease-safe odds and ends thrown on:
Rough Country nerf steps; Sho-n-sto removable front plate w/ my beach-access surf fishing plate; Mopar black fuel door; Mopar locking gas cap; Mopar digi-camo tire cover w/ camera hole; Quadratec sill protectors; WeatherTech mat; 67D driver phone mount

I think they installed your wipers backwards. Take it back! ;)

But seriously, great looking Rubi and sweet engine option. While we're talking diesel, my other vehicle is a 2011 BMW 335d with the 3.0L I6 twin-turbo diesel, putting down ~400hp/600 lb-ft with DPF delete and remap. Enjoy your oil burner!

2018 Unlimited Rubicon
Hello there..new here. Had a 2 door TJ in college and traded off for a mustang so I could have a better stereo (true story). After that I had dreams for years that my dad kept it in the family...not so. Just got a JL unlimited and its awesome. So far so good.

Hello All,

New to the forum and hopefully new to a JL soon. I've driven 4Runners for the last 25 years (great vehicles) but rented a Rubicon from Barlow Jeep in Sedona on a recent visit. Needless to say, I am hooked. I was so impressed with the modern features of the JLs and of course they are amazing on the trails.

With a little luck my 2013 4Runner Trail will be sold next week and I will be ordering a 2019 JLUR. I have been spending way too much time on this forum but the wealth of knowledge makes it worthwhile. Literally...just the information on the best dealers forum will save me thousands of dollars on my purchase price.

I'll post some pics when I get my JLUR. Until then, here is a pic of the Jeep that started this madness.

In between my 2012 JKU (which popped a left cylinder head at only 10K miles at which time I let the dealer warranty it and then traded it) and my 2019 JLU leased last Saturday, I had a 2009 4Runner. T4R's are nice vehicles, but lag behind the technology curve a bit and aren't quite as versatile as a Wrangler, though mine did everything I needed it to, which was take me on the beach surf fishing, getting me through a bit of mud, and a bit of snow.

BUT YOU CAN'T TAKE THE TOP DOWN!

Enjoy your new ride when you get it. That green was pretty sweet!

Thanks.

Mojito was my 1st choice but my wife vetoed it. Sadly is wouldn't be very practical for 6 months of the year when our roads are covered in salt. I'm going with my 2nd choice of Billet Silver.
