Looking for some internal lighting ideas and how to mount/hookup. I have seen folks using LED strips, etc to provide great lighting to the cab. Would love to see some ideas shared here!

I have a rear shelf in my JLU and it gets dark under it. I was debating whether to pick up the Oracle rear cargo light when I remembered I had a Hard Korr light kit laying around that I was originally planning on installing on my FJ Cruiser (before I sold it) or using around the campsite. So I pulled out the kit and this is the result. I purchased the kit with 4 led bars (that can connect to each other) and 2 different types of switches that control color (amber/white) and intensity.

Like it. Question is how did you wire it in the back. I can seem to get a good answer on what to tap into

For now it plugs into the 12v outlet in the rear. I may hardwire it later if I like this setup.

Hmm. Yeah I don’t have the 12v. Know any threads on hardwiring into dome lights etc?

Amazon or similar marketplaces have a ‘12 volt power adapter for 1999-2020 Jeep Wrangler’
Pop off the plastic cover around your 12v socket in the rear. You will pop the seat belt ring with panel tools or something to pry and then pull back a portion of the gasket around your trunk before popping it off. Give that plastic panel a good tug and the clips will give.

Plug that apter in line and it gives a fused 12v line to use from the existing socket. Front 12v port tap gives power when Jeep is on but the rear is constant power so depending use you may need to wire in a switch too. I drilled a hole and 3d printed a plate to hold a latching switch to control an LED light across the glass that way.

Edit- just saw you mention not having rear port. Could look in to installing AUX switches if not already in

I need to get power to my cargo area too, and decided that if I'm going to do it, then I only really want to have to do it once. So my strategy is to make it future-proof:

This weekend I'm running a 4awg wire straight from my battery to the rear cargo area, with a 100amp circuit breaker at the battery side and a distribution block in the cargo area. That way I can easy get power for everything I'll ever put back there, and no more futzing around with tapping power from the 12v outlet. I'll be running my air compressor and cargo lights off that. And in the future I could connect a fridge or whatever else I might want, and the hard part (getting high amp power back there) will already be done.

At the same time I'm also running a couple 16awg wires from the aux switches to the back, so I can easily switch any relays or lights on with my aux switches.
