I also drive a 2 door (Wrangler) and wanted a place to store some recovery gear for off roading. I'm not sure how much storage you're looking for, but I've been raving about the recovery gear box I bought from a company called Off Road In Mind. The website is www.offroadinmind.com if anyone is interested. It was only 250 but I bought it on sale for only 200 which is a decent price compared to everything else I've seen. It looks like this:

It straps to the spare and comes with velcro to keep everything inside. When the lid is down you can also lock it. I would definitely recommend this because it seems others have had the same problem as me.

Also looking for something similar, I have a 2dr JL. I'm looking for somewhere to stash some basic tools out of sight. Currently my tool bag is behind the passenger seat, and the first aid kit is behind the driver's seat in the foot well (no back seat).

Tempted to build a little platform to stash things/bins under the cargo area (like the drawer solutions all over YouTube), but I'd also like to build out the wheel well area and square it off with some easy/clean storage (similar to the Goose Gear side cubbies for the JKU, see attached pic).
https://www.goose-gear.com/collecti...p-jku-side-cubbies-for-2007-2018-4-door-jeeps

I'll lurk in this sub for a few more months, and then I'll probably just build something out of 1/2" ply and vehicle carpeting to make it look clean/factory.

I love being Johnny on the spot with everything, but I also love packing light. At the very least, I like having a spot for everything so I can find it when I need it.

Thanks to the pics that @Myron posted, I finally pulled the trigger on a pair of the Overland Outfitters Sherpa Saddle bags last month.

It took about a week to get them to Canada from the time that I ordered them. Not bad considering everything that's going on in the world! Fortunately for me, Overland Outfitters had a 10% off coupon when I bought them, so with shipping, exchange rate conversion and duties, I paid $365 Canadian for the pair.

The quality of these bags is top notch and they look great in the Jeep. They also hold a surprising amount of gear for their size. I currently have a 7/8" 20' kinetic recovery rope, 2 soft shackles, a D-ring shackle (inside the leather pouch) and two pairs of gloves in the passenger side bag. The driver side bag will hold a first aid kit, some emergency supplies like chocolate bars/energy bars, candles, two thermal space blankets and maybe a small tool kit.

I got one of these and really like it. Pretty inexpensive, decent quality and holds a surprising amount of stuff. In that pic it’s got two sleeping bags and two self inflating sleeping mats/pads plus some other smaller items

Looked online for that wheel well storage bag. Did you find bags made for the JL? I only saw bags for the JK not the JL.

Can the rear seat still fold up and down with the bags installed?

Those bags look very nice. My only problem is potential Chicago crime. Those handles and leather tops look like a nice leather briefcase. I am worried a thief might be tempted. How easy is it to see the tops of the bags through the rear tinted windows?

I wish someone made simple black fabric/material bags that fit in the wheel-well space that allows the rear seat to fold up/down. The simple black material would just blend in and maybe not be noticed behind the dark rear windows.

Outdoors in the sunlight you can definitely make out the bags through the tinted windows of the hard top. On a cloudy day or parked in the shade it's a little more difficult to see anything in the back of the Jeep unless you put your face right up against the glass. I also have a 35% tint on the doors which does make it a little darker inside.

On my previous YJ's and TJ, I ran the black Bestop Saddle bags on both sides, and would have gone that route this time around, but I purchased 2 of the 54110-35 Roughrider Saddle Bags for the JK/JL from Amazon and had to return them because the straps were way too short to attach to the roll-bars of the JL.

Now it's possible that I received someone's Amazon return, and they swapped the correct bags for the smaller YJ/TJ bags, but both bags were in a Bestop box and the instructions showed the correct 54110-35 part number, so you may have different results if you buy directly from Bestop.

Here's a link to the Saddle Bags on the Bestop site if you want to give them a try............. RoughRider™ Saddlebag/Duffle Jeep 2007-2018 Wrangler JK; 2018-2022 Wrangler JL

Overland Outfitters offers an all-black fabric version of the bags (shown here in a JKU):

I believe they did a small production run of the all-black version and they may have some left but if they don't they will do them as a special order for you.
