I’ve heard that a snorkel gives more torque. I’m not sure as I don’t have one but maybe someone with one can chime in.
I’ve had snorkels on 3 TJ/LJs and now the JL. The ONLY thing it does is help prevent water ingestion into the engine.
In my experience, it actually increases the amount of dirt going into the air-box in dusty conditions.
No power or fuel economy increase.
I’ll dig up some pictures of how dirty the filter and air-box was with a snorkel

Found them. This was with about 11,000 miles and not a lot of dirt roads or trail runs.
The filter did it’s job and the intake tube was spotless.

The main reason I wanted, it was for the gas mileage, but it doesn’t seem worth the price tag. I can care less about how it sounds. Thanks for all the info guys.

Going to Race Wars in the desert this weekend. Is it safe to remove the intake and run with a bare throttle body or should I go for the snorkel and a covered pre-filter? 😏

(And sorry to OP, just goofing. Aftermarket intakes are fine for the streets, but use the OEM paper filter for off-road/dusty conditions. Probably won't see any gains unless you're specifically tuned for it, and even then it's likely negligible)
Bare throttle body with a pantyhose stretched over it is all you need.

If it was as simple as increasing intake runner length then wouldn't manufacturers already do that by default?
Maybe they don’t because they don’t want fried clutches. 😂 In all seriousness, this is what is written up about it on the Mopar Parts site.

Basically every "cold air" intake manufacturer says the same thing about their product. You believe those too, right?

Let’s say I’m a skeptical optimist. I will admit however, a snorkel looks pretty damn cool when I pull into the mall. 😂

Thinking about purchasing a intake for my 3.6 2020 JLU was wondering what people think some say it helps with MPG little more responsive but reviews are mixed some say it doesn’t do much what do the you guys think looking for feedback from people who have purchased
Agree with all the comments here. I purchased a cold air intake early on after getting my 2018 just to see if there was any noticeable difference. The noise increase primarily came when I was modulating between cruising and needing to accelerate, but it was so sensitive I was constantly getting the drone. On the responsiveness, it may have completely been my imagination, but I think it was a tiny bit quicker to the draw when pressing on the accelerator. Either way, the noise increase was an absolute dealbreaker for me and I returned it, going back to OEM. Agree with Heimkehr: CAIs primarily suck more money than air.

Interesting. What brand? And did you have a prefilter installed?
Guys running in the desert all swear by snorkels. All have prefilters and say their main filter stays clean much longer than stock.
