Looked into it when I had my Gladiator; the research I found concluded that it gives virtually no benefit in exchange for more noise and changing filters more often (for open boxes).

If there was this big secret to increasing mpg with a simple intake design change why wouldn't Jeep's engineers put that into place from the factory? Having more power and fuel economy would only be a good thing for sales, even if tiny gains.

It makes it sound like it has more power, but that's about it. The rest is nothing more than marketing hype.

Mine resulted in a torque dip at about 2.8k that annoyed the crap out of me...every time I shifted.

Stick with the OEM. The filters on the aftermarket stuff have less sq/in and yet they claim more air flow. There's a price for that. Less filtration capability.

I've experimented with freer-flowing intakes on two other vehicles. In both instances, there were three increases: the volume (i.e., amount) and the associated sound of incoming air, and a mild bump in average MPG.

What decreased was the filtering efficiency of the air filters that were integral to the modified intakes, as borne out by the metrics on the used oil analysis reports when doing a Before/After comparison. That was a deal breaker. I reverted to OEM and haven't looked back.

The single thing that cold air intakes do most efficiently, irrespective of brand, is to make the owner's wallet lighter.

I suggest that you save your money. You won't gain anything, but more noise and dirt entering your engine. The Factory installed air induction system, is designed to give ones engine the required CFM air flow, along with the proper absolute filtration micron rating.

...and that filtration rating becomes much more important for us that use our jeeps off-road.

I have the Injen intake. It might save a little mpg by design but I tend to give it more throttle now than before to hear the sweet noise it makes and ultimately get worse mpg as a result.

Stock filter flows plenty judging by how well my supercharger breathes through it.

Going to Race Wars in the desert this weekend. Is it safe to remove the intake and run with a bare throttle body or should I go for the snorkel and a covered pre-filter? 😏

(And sorry to OP, just goofing. Aftermarket intakes are fine for the streets, but use the OEM paper filter for off-road/dusty conditions. Probably won't see any gains unless you're specifically tuned for it, and even then it's likely negligible)

I can't give any info on my 3.6 put my 2020 f250 6.2 gas I did see a big difference in MPG.
My average MPG stock was 13.3 to 13.6. After installing a S&B set up my MPG went to 14.5 to 14.8.
I drive it every day to work. Same rout 60 miles round trip at 65 to 70 mph.
After changing my diff gears from 3.73 to 4.30 I am still seeing 14.2 to 14.4.
I am happy with the S&B set up.

I’ve heard that a snorkel gives more torque. I’m not sure as I don’t have one but maybe someone with one can chime in.
