Hi all,

I installed a full set of Rock Krawler's adjustable control arm. I used some measurement to make sure the eye-to-eye length are quite precisely equal.
I'm thinking to bring the jeep to an alignment shop for a reading, which costs $50. I'm wondering if there is any value to do an alignment check? Say if the report says thrust angle or caster is a bit off, should I do some adjustment? That would mean adjusting the control arm to be not equal length .

Thanks,

Is your Jeep lifted ? And where did you get your measurements from ?

It is lifted. I used the measurement from the lift kit instruction.
2.5” or 3.5” ? The control arm measurements are different between the two……if you want to get the alignment then get the print out and post it here, then we can help you out with what to adjust if anything…..those RK measurements are pretty accurate, but they don’t give quite enough caster on the 3.5” lift……

I'd get it aligned. You have caster, pinion angles, and side to side (track bars) axle location that have all been altered. The initial measurements that these lift companies provide are designed to get you in the "ball park".
Just my 2 cents ?

I paid for the lifetime alignment through a local firestone place after I installed the MC GC3.5 on my wife's JLUR. They aren't very keen to make the necessary changes to get it perfect, but I've made a few adjustments (as well as a new drag link and tie rod) and keep taking it back every few months to have it checked. I did it before we drove from Tennessee to Moab, then had them check it again due to how terrible the roads are in Colorado!! Caster is probably the biggest change that you can make using adjustable arms.

An "alignment" may not tell you the whole story. Before any 4 wheel alignment, the axles should be centered and triangulated to the frame. Once that is done correctly, the 4 wheel measurement can be done.

Are there any points on the frame to use for triangulation?
