If you still have the factory clutch spring you are missing out and need a @Actman clutch spring in your JL!

Before I was even pulled out of the garage all the way I was blown away. I can feel the clutch engage and disengage now and can modulate it so much better than before. I was a bit skeptical myself and kept putting it off but today I was doing some other light "accessorizing" as we are all wont to do to our Jeeps and finally got it installed. The hardest part is contorting yourself so you can see under the dash otherwise this is a super easy mod to do and 100% worth every penny you'll spend to get it. Luckily it doesn't cost much, in fact I think I spent more to get it shipped than it did to buy it...you know how that goes these days.

It doesn't matter though, you need this if you still have the stock clutch spring. You might not know you need yet it but you do! This is by far the best $20 bucks I've spent for my Jeep since I got it. It's not even close! Just go buy it now, you can thank me later.

871087P is the part number you need.

It's not a huge difference, but it certainly is a noticeable difference.

Yeah, I'm a big fan. I haven't splurged for a full ACT kit yet, but until then I'm liking the spring.
My launch control is better, my downshifts are MUCH better. Just a big fan all around.
I kept my original spring for when I eventually splurge on a full clutch kit.

Yep I noticed it immediately and it definitely improves the feeling of the stock clutch. Makes it easier to be smooth I mean it was pretty night and day for me. I could just tell right away that there was an improvement.

I'm beginning to think there's a lot of variance in the factory JL clutch system though some people see very little improvement some people see a lot. And the same thing with these recall clutch fixes some people are seeing a lot of improvement in their clutch and some are not seeing any. I wonder if it all comes down to the fact that the tolerances of the factory JL clutch system are just that bad.

I ended up removing my ACT JL clutch spring, it was about 1/4" short and I believe around 3K RPM would cause an annoying intermittent rattling sound when my foot was off the clutch. Anyone else experience this? I put the OEM back in and no longer getting that sound. The spring is thinner and has less tension but should not be shorter. I would try again if ACT made a version 2.0 of that spring.

How long ago did you install the ACT spring? I installed mine in May and haven't noticed any rattling. When I first got it and compared it to the original, I could see they were the same length and diameter, just made of different wire thicknesses.

No issues when I had the spring. I had a rattle at 3k rpm before installing the spring that went away after replacing the clutch.

I purchased and installed the ACT compression spring 10/2023 so just over a year. My version was about 1/4" shorter than the OEM it replaced. There was a small amount of slop.

The measurement photo #2 (despite the angle) is not applying any pressure to the spring - at all. It's the iPhone camera causing the distortion.

Thanks for the good info. I'm glad I held onto the original spring. I suppose I'll be putting it back in 6 months.

Hopefully not, I noticed a big difference going back to the OEM spring, clutch is now very light, and I had to "relearn" the clutch again - took a few drives. It seems all manual transmission are slightly different with their quirks and such. Hopefully it's just that mine vibrates or is not balanced as well as yours and you never see this issue. I do prefer the ACT spring, just needed to get rid of the rattling.
