So after washing the Jeep I take the doors off and put the top down. My wife was inside working and I didn't want to disturb her and take the windows to the basement where I normally store them. So I put them on top her her SUV.
Later I took my daughter to get pictures taken and my wife left to go to an appointment. You guessed it. The windows were still on top of the SUV. They blew off and are scratched up, although not as bad as I was expecting.
There is also a pen size hole in the material (not the window but the canvas) on the back window.

Any thoughts on "buffing out" the scratches I'm the window and or plugging the small hole?

Thanks for any helpful advice you might be able to provide.

You can buff paint/SS/Aluminum--but you can't buff plastic"window", just consider it a badge of off-road evidence--

Go to Big-5/Cabellas/even Wal Mart and get a small canvas repair kit and fix the "HOLE" on the inside--good as new !

Good luck

You're going to want to buy new windows, but in the meantime you can use rubbing alcohol (50%) to clean them up, may remove some scuffs, and tape over the hole with clear packing tape.

You could try some plastic polish but I’m not sure it would remove scratches if their deep and as far as the hole you could try a tent patch, wish you the best on this and if all else fails start saving for new windows

Yeah new windows are not cheap... Guessing it would be as much as some of the best tops that will come out next year.

There are a number of products that can remove or greatly reduce scratches in plastic. If you have or know of a good automotive detailer (not just some dude who washes cars) they may be able to help you. You could do it yourself with the proper tools and skills if you have them. A medium cutting polish, followed by a fine or ultra fine polish with a random orbital polisher might make them look pretty good. It's amazing what results a skilled person can get like that.

I'd use Menzerna medium cut 2400 followed by super finish 3800, or Meguair's M105 followed by M205. DO NOT TRY TO USE THESE BY HAND ONLY.

I’m sure they are not gonna be cheap so if you pass on buying new ones they best you can hope is to polish the windows with some type of plastic polish like Novus or similar and then use a tent patch that closely resembles the color of the top and I would apply a patch inside and out just to make sure it does not leak

As you may have found, whatever polish/buff you try always go from the weakest to harder when trying to get scratches out.

Doesn't matter what brand, or across brands just try something with less abrasion first then move harder as needed. You can also do the same with softer to harder pads. Work from hand to a random orbital if you have one as well.

EDIT: clarify you go from softest to harded when trying to REMOVE the scratch/swirl mark/defect. IE, dont start with heavy grit hard pad and a random orbital if you can take it out by hand with a claybar or lighter polish. Then once you are happy, go back the other way with one or two of the polish/compounds finishing with wax.

Try Lemon Pledge on the windows. Takes care of most of the scratches.....I've been using it for years.

Meguair's PlastX will take out fine scratches (visible, but can't really feel them).

if you try anything on those scratches, you will likely just dull up the plastic and/or make your windows cloudy.
you're gonna just have to live with it and leave them so you can still see out what is left of your windows.

as mentioned, get some cloth repair stuff and fill the hole. or clear packing tape was a good mention.

sux, but what can you do.

50/50 - 95% Isopropyl alcohol and water - this is your best bet to get them clean, after some research this was the only thing to remove water marks from my windows (car wash left overs)
