How many miles are on it? You really need 4.88 gears and a new clutch. 3.45s and 35s are a bad combination. Hell 3.45s and a 6 speed with stock tires isn't great. All 6 speeds should come from the factory with 4.10s at a minimum.

Everything you describe points at a worn clutch and likely the flywheel too. Even if you get a new clutch, the problem will return it the not too distant future if you don't re-gear.

Oh I don't mind wrenching and I love learning new things. The unfortunate part is that I hot it from a dealership about a month ago and if I trade it in or sell it then it's going to really hurt my credit that I'm trying to build

It’ll be all good.
You’re going to have to drive it differently than you normally would with that gear/tire combo, and you’ll get shitty mileage. Let it wind up into the power band. Don’t try to race anyone.
It won't let me

I have a manual 2018 JLU Sport. It's all stock minus the 4" lift and 35s. When I hit the clutch to down shift or go into neutral 9 times out of 10 my rpms will almost bottom out then just about 1000 and then settle down. When I start it it will idle about 17000 ish. It will settle down if I give it time or I can pop the throttle and immediately drop to the normal 700. 1st to 2nd is ok. 2-3 can be a little weak(in my opinion). 3-4 is really weak and when I'm in 5th it will actually slow down even though I can have it floored. I've been told that it might have to do with the clutch recall. Before I beg and borrow to get a centerforce can anyone tell me if it's the clutch or not? I'm poor as hell and I can't spend $1500 just for hopes. This is my daily driver and I dont have anything else.
I had a 6 spd sport with 33s on it. It was slow as hell. like everyone else says the gearing absolutely sucks. To go up any sort of incline was 4th gear and sometimes 3rd. When you say your in 5th and it is slowing down, are you on flat road or going up hill? the reason i ask is if your on flat road, and this is happening most likely the clutch is slipping. What i would do, find a flat road, 3rd gear rolling and accelerate. If the rpms jump, or climb but the vehicle doesnt accelerate the clutch is slipping. This will only get worse. Me personally i would start with a new clutch seeings you have no idea how hard it was driven by the first owner. Then as everyone else said regear it.

...You need a new, upgraded clutch and new differential gears at a minimum.
....
Honestly, if you really want a Wrangler, sell it and buy a completely stock, unmodified one with low miles. Do nothing to it until you have a better job. Returning yours to stock will still cost you more money than you can spend right now. Your used lift and 35s aren't worth much used, then you still have to buy stock components and a clutch.
I disagree with this advice.

Selling this Jeep and buying another one will still cost money, what with taxes, and registration, and especially if there's a loan.

He doesn't need a new clutch. Most owners (including me) find the factory clutch to be perfectly serviceable, and with the recall coming, he's eventually going to get a new one from the factory anyway. I know some folks on this forum are enjoying their Centerforce and ACT upgraded clutches, but that's an optional high cost upgrade. It's not required.

Finally, it's not that hard to return a basic tires/lift combination back to stock. It's regearing that really makes it a one-way trip, and this jeep doesn't have that. If his tires are in good shape, he can probably trade them with someone on a budget who wants to go larger. And if they're not, well, he needed new tires anyway.

I wouldn't worry about clutch unless going bad. Thousands and thousands running just fine. Mine was great in rubicon with 4.10. 4.88 probably perfection.

This is sound advice. But even if the clutch is slipping, don't be in a rush to spend money on clutch replacement. All JL Wranglers with a clutch are under recall that'll include a clutch replacement. You just need to wait for parts to become available and work with a dealer to have the recall work done.

If you dont mind wrenching…… buy some gears and install them yourself. Theres a fantastic how-to on here. Buddy and i did ours and we’re no mechanics. Then your problem would be solved.

cheaper than a clutch as well if you DIY.

My local dealer has had 2 sitting there for about 6 months waiting on parts. Maybe I'm just being paranoid

Yes I need help. But if you think I'm rude because I typed in all caps then you need to rethink life in general. Sorry if i offended you
Was I offended by your first posting? Not at all. But it also was not descriptive. So I provided a suggestion to help you actually receive help.

Now, you *have* offended me by your reply, as a brand new person coming in here and attacking those that would help you? WTF???? Good luck, buddy.

That would be awesome. Do you think that you could point me to the thread?

Welcome to the forum from a fellow Sport /manual driver. The stock 3:45 gears are all wrong for the Jeep and require a change in driving style. I think you are short shifting it and you need to rev it higher in each gear. You can pretty much forget about fifth and sixth gear, just drive it like a four speed. Try to keep the rpm above 2,100 at steady cruise. Don’t worry, the engine will happily hum along at 2,500 rpm all day.

The Mopar lift is fine, in fact it’s probably better than some of the cheaper ones out there.

yeah, but when? He has a problem right now that could lead to a seriously burnt clutch and ruined flywheel any time now. I guess he could put the stock wheels on until that time comes. It'll look funny, but it wont be near as strain wear on the clutch.
