I've had good luck with the charger that comes with the Jeep. Really slow, though.

Are you *sure* you only have 110V? If you park in/next to your house you can probably get 220V Level 2 charger. Also in/next to a commercial building pretty easy - offer to get a quote and split costs with landlord.

(I could have done a 220V outlet at my last apartment, had an outdoor outlet fed from my panel, could have swapped to a double-pole circuit breaker and put in a 6-20 outlet)

If you really are limited to a 110V 15A outlet, it really doesn't matter what "charger" (EVSE) you use. The one included with the Jeep is fine. It's gonna take forever.

I did purchase a secondary portable EVSE that plugs into either 110V or 220V and can supply up to 16A, It comes with an adapter plug and you can use others depending on the outlet you find. At work I plug into a welder outlet and charge in about 3.5 hrs. Got it at NAPA on sale for under $150 https://www.schumacherelectric.com/products/ev-charger/

Not exactly sure what the OP mean, but the 4xe comes supplied with a 110v charger, you just need a grounded outlet, and you are good to go.

Congrats! I have a ‘21 Sahara 4xe and I love it!

Your Jeep will come with a 110v cable (Level 1 charging) to charge on a grounded outlet, but it will take approx 14 hours to fully charge the battery.

You might want to consider having an electrician give you a quote to add a dedicated 40 or 50 amp breaker for a 240v outlet or hardwired Level 2 EVSE. That will allow you to buy a unit like a ChargePoint, Grizzl-e, JuiceBox, or other that will charge the battery in just over 2 hours.

Thank you!
I don’t suppose the batt gets charged while you drive the Sahara using the gas motor?

The battery does recharge as you brake etc, but for the most part you might get a 1% bump, once I saw 5%, the charge mostly gets used up as the 4xe is always using the electric motors even when the gas engine is on.

Well fudge. I guess the e advantage is mostly for in-town vs. a 200 mile trip.

Sure would be sweet if a solar panel could soak up some juice when you are parked!

You can put the 4xe in “e-Save Charge” mode to recharge the battery, but it’s incredibly inefficient and defeats the purpose. You’re using more gasoline this way because it’s using your gasoline engine to both drive your vehicle and charge the battery at the same time.
