Stellantis is a European company that has to live by EU rules. And they are probably looking longer term than one US administration term. They probably won't do a complete 180 on the direction they're going now.
Jeep in North America is where they get all of their profit, and the I-6 was developed to be produced well into the 2030s. Trust me, they had a contingency plan for an administration that would let them make money, and put-off EV mandates in the US. It will also help fix their labor problems if they can produce more ICE vehicles.

They wouldn't have invested in a new engine if they didn't think it would be viable. I wouldn't be surprised to see a return of V8s in certain vehicles as well, such as 1/2 ton trucks. And if they would put a 5.7 Hemi in the Gladiator, just as an engine option and not some crazy package price, it would become a huge seller. Same with the Wrangler.

You might not agree with this answer but... Nothing. The existing JL Platform has two model years left in it before the J70 Platform replaces it. They are deep into the J70 work with an engineering team that has endured layoffs, low morale and several management changes. Stellantis' Jeep Division simply does not have the resources to change anything more significant than paint and wheels (oh big news - a new soft top color!) before the next generation.

I bet the biggest single discussion item in the meeting rooms at the Jeep headquarters is about the future of the Gladiator. Is the 4xe version available yet? I wonder what's taking so long...
Actually I completely agree, mfg’s can’t predict future political policy changes and redesign possibly every 4 years. That was essentially my point.
Perhaps the Gladiator would have sold better if it had a 5.7 option for sufficient PU torque and not just the diesel that cost much more, wasn’t highly wanted, and discontinued anyway, leaving just the squishy torqued V6. The JT 4Xe will come as per Stella’s apparent direction of If you want power, you will go electrified. Any doubt, see 25 GC, Wrangler after the Last Last Call V8’s. The JT’s future is in doubt for the next gen. Stella Stupid again.

So the switch to all-EV would happen faster?
I don't think he would make Jeep all-EV. However, I wouldn't mind a Tesla powered Wrangler with 300mi range, instant torque, and 0-60 under 4 sec while retaining all Wrangler's offroad capabilities.

My growing concern is that the next “Wrangler” will be built on the STLA Large platform, and modeled somewhat after the current Land Rover Defender. The Defender is on a modified Jaguar car platform, as are the Range Rovers.

No matter anyway, as the chance of me trading a perfectly good, low mile Wrangler for another is unlikely. Unless I can get a 2 door 5.7 that isn’t $50k or more.

Inflation has been tough during the last four years, and most auto manufacturers price increases have outpaced inflation. It’s no wonder that sales have stagnated and that no one is excited about the prospect of new models.

Wish the rumors that Musk is going to buy out Jeep are true
Enough people complain about the *hybrid* and you want to give Jeep to the guy who only makes electric vehicles? Bold move cotton. Plus according to AI it might look something like this:
Jeep Wrangler JL Hurricane Wrangler DALL·E 2024-11-20 19.06.48 - A modified Jeep Wrangler with design elements inspired by the Tes

At least it has a grill that's probably approved by @Tredsdert.

Didn't a few people say that the upcoming Hurricane I-6 was too long to easily fit in the current JL engine bay? If so, then it would make sense that maybe we'll see it available as an engine option for the upcoming JM Wrangler. Seems silly that Jeep would design the next platform without allowing it to accommodate the few remaining IC engines they have left.
Based off the cramped engine bay in mine with the 2.0L they’d have to do all kinds of shit to cram a twin turbo straight 6 in a JL.

Look again from underneath, there is a TON of space between the engine and the radiator in the 2.0. It still may not be enough for the I-6, but "cramped" is not a way to describe it.

First the angry grill, now the stoner grill.

From an ongoing issue post i follow, a Jeep technician has to say this:

"Two things I've seen is the plastic thermostat failing (lol) causing overheating, and consistent misfire issues despite multiple software updates.

Just to clarify here, the 3.0TT is the most advanced motor ever installed in our normal line of vehicles. There isn't going to be a "Take it to your trusted mechanic" scenario for this one. I would strongly recommend not going anywhere near this engine for at least half a decade to let any early issues get worked out.

The engine is frankly too complex to be put into a work truck. I suspect high mileage examples of models equipped with this engine will experience European luxury levels of depreciation. The labor cost for repairs down the line will be frankly absurd, especially for a Jeep."

I'm pretty sure that the reason the Gladiator never got any version of a V-8 engine was because the Ram truck division guys were in Carlos Tavares' office screaming "Product line cannibalization! Noooooo!" Think about it, if you just need a 1/2 Ton pickup to pull a boat, wouldn't a Gladiator be much more fun than a Ram pickup?
