After replacing my auxiliary battery a week ago, the service Start/Stop warning came on again today.

The odds are the new aux battery is not bad this soon and the main tested fine.

I am wondering if the aux is not charging and if it is due to the IBS.

@Rhinebeck01 - any thoughts?

@CarbonSteel

Blown fuse in the High Amp Fuse Array and Aux battery does not get charged by alternator.

Pull off the negative cable to the aux battery, insulate the end and tie it out of the way. Remove fuse F42 to disable the power control relay and prevent any dashboard alarms (because the aux battery is offline). Drive it for a few days on just the main battery observing the dash volt meter. If the voltmeter is at 14.6-14.7 all the time, the battery is not taking a good charge. Note if the stop start works just on the main battery, and if so, how long after an overnight stop before the stop/start is ready. The stop/start on my Jeep (with one battery) is ready in ~1/2 mile.

If you have a smart charger, something like an Everstart 15A from Walmart, you can try to "recondition" your battery.

If you need a new main battery, the Everstart from Walmart is a good one for the money.

Understood, but the main is only a year old (so was the aux). I will be digging into it to figure out what happening starting with the fuse, though unless it just blew on its on accord, there has been no electrical work done that would have blown it.

I'll also try your test.

Did you change both batteries?
No, they were both just over a year old and the main tested fine. The aux immediately failed. So I only changed the aux. The main is under warranty, but they will not change it while it tests good.

The scenario could be (and may be) that the aux battery was bad and I popped the fuse when changing the aux and that is my "new" issue.

I did, however, separate the negatives and taped them off, but maybe I touched something when messing with the aux and it has now run down to the point of having aa problem.

I assume that separating the negatives again and pulling the positive is all that is needed to change the fuse array?

Could be a few things.... N3 usually seen blown when a guy/gal removes the positive bundle off the Main battery and that pos bundle touches against something metal near by..

I posted a link earlier mentioning moving wire from the N3 terminal to the N4 terminal and see if that fixes things... if it fixes things, you will want to replace the High Amp Fuse Array, as N3 on it is blown.

OK; N3 moved to N4. Will report back on status after driving it.

I just replaced my Main and Aux and it was fine for a few days, then it went back to "Start / Stop not ready battery charging". After a long drive it goes to a ready state but not all the time. The charging system on this jeep is just maddening.

I may end up replacing the High Amp Fuse Array just for the hell of it to see if that changes anything.

I hear you. This is the first time I have had this issue and it may be "all me" meaning that I caused the N3 to blow.

I will see how it goes, but my next step would be to go Genesis Gen 3 (not because of the fuse, but to eliminate the aux battery).

I will have to do some additional rewiring for the relays on my Baja Designs & ROAM step lights as well as the winch disconnect but that is not a showstopper:

Baja and ROAM relays:

Curious, why complicate things, and not instead do, the simple aux battery by-pass procedure, that takes a mere 5 minutes to do and it's free?

Plus with this procedure, you can always leave the aux battery occassionally topped off, and use it as an emergency back up battery if the need ever arises!
