I discovered something not talked about, while changing out the wrong battery that the original owner did before trade in. I dealt with odd charging patterns and low battery conditions.
After redoing all my battery cable connections to my new AGM battery, and a good hour with disconnected battery, my charging was still up in the 14.4v range for extended times, as if I still had a flooded cell installed.
I decided to clean up my loose bundled cables and tape them up like OEM... as I needed to adjust cable length I decided to unmount the IBS from the negative terminal. Once removed, I noticed some corrosion and cleaned with rag only. I did not have my hard rubber pencil eraser to thoroughly clean to bare metal, but will get back to it when I do my winch install. The IBS clean and silver paste will be part of my existing thread.
Any way... now my new AGM has a proper charging voltage. It will start around 14.4v volts in cold weather to check battery charge state, and drop to 13.2v when charging and once voltage levels off it will free float to check if battery is charged.. free float is 12.9v to 13v for a fully charged AGM with 100% life. When light charging has been for a few minutes, a 14.4v bump for a few seconds and back to 13.1v to 13.2v. This I never saw with my Jeeps charging system before, and I have driven it since July 5th this year.
Anyway if having battery issues you my want to check your IBS mounting to ground. It may have a weak ground at battery terminal.
