How should soft top lockers work?

It only locks when you push the top all the way down. I usually have to go to the tailgate and push it down a little to get them to engage.

I can't do it either. I opened the back door, pushed it down with full force and nothing. The roof still lifted freely.
When I push it, it should be in the locked position, right?
and one more thing, unlocking has an end position, and locking doesn't. It doesn't click in the locked position at all.

Could be broken. Unfortunately, you’d have to take the hinge mechanism apart to know for sure.

It still lifts about 6" before hitting the lock. It doesn't lock all the way down. Normal.
