How many rock lights?

First, think about the rocks below you. Pointing straight ahead isn't going to do much for what's under your tire, and won't help seeing your rear tires. Second, think about the spotter. It'll give them better visibility to place you where you need to be.

The top of the tire isn't going to help the spotter, the bottom of the tire is, which is why lights in front and behind the tires should be better for spotter visibility. Ideally they are angled slightly to cast more light on the tires contact area. As far as I can tell lights on top light up the top and inside of the tire and do not get much light on the outside and bottom of the tire where the spotter needs to see.

Wheel well lights would also be more likely to be directly visible by your spotter shining directly into their eyes hindering their ability to spot you.

As I said before, I'm not saying they can't work, just that it seems like there is a better place if the goal is visibility of rocks around your tires.

I have two of those cyclones under my hood, for light. The infinite off road have those magnets, so easy install, but definitely not as bright
