How has your JL saved your a**?

My Jeep hasn't saved my ass but it makes my ass a lot more active, so I guess it is saving my ass. Seriously though, I'm constantly looking for a reason/excuse to go Jeepin which almost always includes a hike, bike ride, fishin trip, etc. So not only is it saving my ass but it helps clear the head space as well.

My dad’s 92, we are at 4,500 feet in elevation, it is 35 degrees outside, and it is both snowing and raining.

This isn't a snow or flood "save" but if it hadn't been for my Wangler I would n't be around to write this. I was driving home at night and a huge bull elk jumped out of nowhere right into my Jeep. I had steel bumpers with bull bars and body armor and it smacked right in to me and rolled off and I didn't even lose control and got out and looked and the only damage (except for a dead elk) was my left plastic fender was torn off (added steel fenders after that) but had it been a lower car that elk would have gone thru the windshield. I WILL NEVER be without a Jeep after that experience.. Jeeps are more capable in any situation than an car and it saved my life This was 2 years ago and I am a 78 year old Jeepgal and still enjoying the heck out of wheelin (just got a new 2023 2-door LOL)

Ma’am, my wife and I LOVE seeing older folks enjoying life in their Jeeps! Last weekend we did a huge Jeeping event in Florida (Jeepin With Judd). We saw a TON of folks in their 70’s, and a few that looked quite a bit older, having the time of their lives!

We are in our early 60’s, and plan on Jeeping as long as we physically can. By the way, I have a ‘21 JLUR, she has a ‘20 JLU Sahara.

In 2018 we went to Moab. Probably shouldn't have. We ran Long Canyon. You start by going down a switch back. The first 2 legs were fine. Plenty of traction. There is a flat area where 2 vehicles can fit then a bigger descent. That part was snow covered ice. Zero traction. Jeep slid down hill and turned 90 degrees to driver and thankfully we stopped. Had to winch out without assistance. When I watched the video I hear myself say... "This just got really sketchy." Now I listen to myself. ?

Thankfully, we stopped another couple from making the same mistake on our way out.

Been there done Moab in Snow and ICE and not fun at all, puckered in the seat for sure.

Was in Sarasota yesterday. Good Grief, I have not seen diesel or gas prices that high in over 6 mo. Diesel $4.89 WTF? under $4 bucks here saw some at $3.69. GAS, $4.39 UP to $4.59. I paid $3.07 at Sams here in Port Charlotte.

I come up there to go to Costco!

Saved people and their Jeeps in ragging rivers taking them downstream but me and my ole TJR and a Warn winch saved the day...done it twice over the years.

Saved a Jeep after it rolled in Pritchett Canyon. Nobody would get it out and I called and drove out the extracted his Jeep. I saw him again in Moab and he had reverted back to the EZ runs. He told me had ended up replacing all of the body. Pic below.

Just to name a few saves over my lifetime of wheeling.

I have done a few minor rescues.

Among the ones I remember:

• Pulled a Nissan Pathfinder stuck in the sand dunes with my 2009 JK Rubicon - Pismo Beach, CA - March 2010
• Pulled a Chevrolet Avalanche stuck in the snow with my 2014 JKU Sahara - Crater Lake, OR - January 2015
• Pulled a Ford F-150 stuck in the snow bank with my 2013 JK Rubicon - Mammoth Lakes, CA - Thanksgiving Day 2015
• Pulled a rental Dodge Challenger with three German tourists stuck in the sand with my 2013 Rubicon - Death Valley, CA - July 2016
• Pulled a Honda Accord full of hikers from the ditch with my 2015 JKU Sahara - near Mount Baker, WA - August 2017

Haven’t done much of it since COVID.

My wife and I were on Fins n Things in Moab in our '21 JLR and went over one of those blind, slick rock 'humps'. Instead of a smooth transition at the bottom like the previous ones we'd gone over, this one had a ~2 foot drop at the end. The rock was a little wet and sandy and we slid off the ledge and ended up resting on the front bumper, hanging from the seatbelts. Fun!

After taking a deep breath and pondering the situation, I locked up both the front and rear diffs, put it in reverse and managed to crab our way back up the rock enough that I could turn the front wheels and put the right front tire on the ground before the bumper caught.

We were never really in danger and I'm sure there were dozens of Jeeps behind us who would have gladly helped us (and even use their winch for the first time, ha!) but it was still the only time I was genuinely concerned. I felt like the Rubicon package paid for itself that day.

Don, I’ve been buying gas on Fruitville Rd for $3.39 per gallon. The prices in Sarasota are highly variable from station to station.

Registration for JWJ is usually in October. I recommend you monitor their website and their Facebook page for the exact date, and register AS SOON AS the page opens for registration. It typically sells out within a few hours.
