Hi there, I am in the process of putting thogether the same parts as you have to do the hitch and harness install. When I was going to put remote start in my jk it said in the install instructions to flash the as built file to update the computer to allow the remote start. Does the install manual indicate the need for the as built file to be updated to allow the hitch wiring kit to “activate”. Could you perhaps upload the pages of the install manual so I could see the process start to finish?

Thanks in advance
I will try and post it. It doesn’t say anything about having a Ecu flashed or doing anything like that.

Man, that seems like an in depth installation procedure. I wish mine came with it, too!!

I wanted one that came with it too. However they generally don’t discount special orders. So took what I could get. I really wanted a soft top, LSD and the 7 inch radio. I would have rather had the hitch than the rear radar and led rear lights. But I actually like the blind spot and rear radar now after driving with it.

Have you started the harness installation yet?

Not yet I work 6 days this week. I may work on it Sunday. I want to get it done soon. I have a sea doo I need to get out on the water. I will post plctures of the install. It really doesn’t look that bad.

There is a class three hitch that works on the JL nicely. Cequent 75168 from U Haul. It is for a JK but is longer than the factory hitch. It cleared my bumper nicely. It is long enough to easily use my bike rack. I had to remove the bracket that reinforces the bumper step.

The factory welds on the rear crossmember were terrible and had to be ground down.

Drawtite also makes a Class III hitch for the JK (not yet approved for the JL) and its longer than the standard ones, too. Curt’s Class III is not longer, however. I prefer the shorter, standard length ones, personally.
