The hardtop will always command a higher resale value. However in ease of sale it is dependent on geographical area. My guess is there isn't much demand for a soft top in the OP's location of new jersey but in coastal Florida demand for the soft top is quite strong.

As someone on the other side if this transaction, I just bought a hard top JL with the intention of adding a soft top later. By the time I had weighed the pros and cons, I ruled out buying a jeep with a soft top. Take that for whatever it's worth.

I personally would not buy a used 4 year old soft top unless it's dirt cheap, might have more value selling it with the Wrangler.

As new softtops are $2100 I would sell the softtop.

Going to be selling my JLUR 2019 soon. I only want to include one top and will sell the second on the marketplace. Which top is easier to ell on marketplace? Soft or Hard?
Soft top will give you the ability to ship it if needed. A lot easier than a hardtop will
