When charging this evening with the 110v charger I noticed a really high pitched faint noise emitting from the vehicle. We've only owned it for about 3 weeks but it's the first time I've noticed this noise. Any idea what it could be? Is it normal? Thanks

There are several different pump and fan noises depending on heating or cooling needs of the battery.

If it is sounds like a small jet engine, it’s part of the battery thermal management and normal.

Enjoy your 4xe!

It has gotten much warmer here lately but it's more of an electrical very high pitch noise. Almost hard to hear at first.

The faint high pitch wine is the sound of the power converters doing their job. There is a lot going on while charging. The converters are rectifying 120V 60hz AC to 120V DC, then stepping up the 120V DC to anywhere from ~350V DC to ~450V DC for the HV battery, and also stepping down to ~13.5V DC for the LV battery. Add in the cooling fans and even the air conditioner will spin up when needed to keep the HV battery within a temperature range, and there is a lot of noises that can happen.

Mainly the high pitch wine is from the voltage step up process (buck/boost flyback circuit) which basically is a high frequency solid state switch cycling a inductor and capacitor network, which causes a good audible high pitch hum.

In short... Completely normal.
