Anyone else have this? The first one happens more, the other tough to duplicate.

  • In the mornings cruse control set to 20mph she feels sluggish.

  • At 55mph 8th, 1500-2000 rpm’s she occasionally feels like she is hesitating. Sometimes noticeable as if I was tapping the gas pedal.

Unfortunately it’s a school zone. That’s the speed limit. And it’s a ridiculously long school zone too

58Willys's second sentence was talking about the 8th gear at 1200 rpm part. For both instances though it just boils down to I think you're just not driving it right.

Just because you can set the cruise at 20 doesn't mean you probably should. And just because you can force it into 8th at 55 mph doesn't mean you probably should. And if you do, don't expect anything other than sluggish responses.

unsavory

The 3.6 doesn't like to run below 2K RPM at all. Just look at the torque curve on that engine.

even sans the cruse control. Same thing.

as far as driving it right? It’s an auto not sure how to force it into gear. Just following the flow of traffic

this thing is usually under 2k rpm. So is this something that should be brought up to the dealer?

If you are cruising at 1500 to 2000 rpm to get power out of the 3.6 you are going to have to run up to 4000+ so I would think it would hesitate winding up to power band. The power is really at higher RPMs. Sounds normal to me. But I am sure others will know more.

I assumed you were manually dropping it into 8th with the select shift since I've seen posts about the auto not liking to go into the upper gears at those speeds. If that's not the case then sorry about that. Heavier right foot to get it into a gear that performs better I guess?

So highway driving at 55 is between 1500 - 2k. Hesitation while maintaining speed shouldn’t be happening.

Mill be bringing it up to the dealer as I already have a wave service scheduled.
Just want to hear from others…

The dealer will only waste your time, there’s nothing wrong with your Jeep.

Just judging by the fact that you admit to using cruise control at 20 mph tells me that you’re a certain kind of driver. Not a bad driver, just, different man. Your transmission has learned your bad habits. Try stepping on the pedal harder. It will get up and go.

Get up and go through a school zone.
I know what she can do. It’s when she acts funny at highway speed. Maybe cruise control scares everyone away from what’s going on.

55 is too slow for 8th gear. You’re operating at like 1200-1400 rpm. Of course there’s going to be a delay in acceleration.

If you push it hard (5k rpm or so) from 25-70mph, does it stumble?
