Hey guys, I'm thinking it's the idler pulley but I was asking in case I should check anything else. I have a 2022 wrangler unlimited sport with 64k miles, with the 3.6L non e-torq engine. I don't see any visible wear to the pulleys and there isn't anything rubbing, it's pretty stock except for the dual battery genesis setup using the odyssey agm25 batteries. I got the alternator checked which appeared to be working at its regular performance values. Any suggestions? Thanks

My 2023 Sport S was making a squealing noise in 2024 and it turned out to be the water pump

Save yourself the headache, buy the OEM OAD pulley tool (or rent it from an auto parts store) and swap that pulley first. Cheap and 10 minutes with the belt off. Wish I’d done that instead of replacing two idlers that were fine.

You're sure it's from the engine bay?
Yes, it happens after idling for a couple minutes and then continues to happen until I drive for the first couple minutes and then again after I stop the vehicle and it idles for a couple minutes again. I thought it was the alternator because of when I was hearing it but it tested fine. I am going to try to replace the part the guy mentioned above this weekend, unless anyone can think of anything else. The power steering pump also makes an almost quiet squeal when I turn the wheel but that's a completely different tone and from what I understand that's pretty normal on wranglers.

So you're talking about the bearing that's on the alternator right? I haven't noticed mine leaking oil like others have mentioned in the threads I just read but I'm willing to give it a shot, as right now it bothers the hell out of me with how sick it sounds. Not really bothering performance at the moment just my ears. Was yours leaking oil?

I think it was my OAD pulley even though the sound seems like it's coming from the opposite side of the engine. I say that because the OAD pulley does have that line of grease on the engine that people point out, it's barely noticeable though. I'm ordering the part now. Is there anything else i should repair while I'm switching it out since I'm in that area anyways. I'm at 63k. Thanks for any advice. I appreciate it.
