I really would love to see this (or something similar) succeed as a modern option to a basic CJ-style offroader, but from:

A base MSRP of $28,739 for the model that is most like a CJ (and not a SxS) is pretty hard to stomach, especially when you can get a base JL for a few grand more.

If Ford can set an MSRP of $22k for base level Maverick, I don’t see why they couldn’t also offer something similar in this segment.

THe market they are after is the ranch and farm, maybe a few guys out there would off road it, but by and large most of them don't even have license plates 'case they are not driven on the streets.

Exactly. Guessing Jeep was concerned about the design (Willys)... this isn't even close to the BMW/Pontiac battles. Both of those were actual cars lol.

The ONLY way I drive off the ranch was if my GF was a Troglidyte. I can see pulling up to the Rattlesnake In with a parking lot full of Superdutys and Jeeps. They laugh you out there for sure. That said its a good LITTLE rig on a farm, not sure on a ranch...

Standard playbook for an upstart to focus on a market segment that is considered non-threatening to the incumbent. Didn’t fool Stellantis. There is not enough of a farm vehicle market in the USA for this to be profitable for Mahindra. This is a beachhead into the automobile market.

In 2019 I bought a Kubota RTV XG850 Gas model (side by side). For 2-3K more I could've had a Roxor (they were still under 20K), and that was before efn FCA forced Mahindra into that fugly front end.
I almost went that route, but for my wooded 5 acre property, the Kubota made more sense.
With an unlocked ECU, the Roxor can easily run 60-65mph, I've seen a few on the roads around here because in my state you can license them...

So why not get the real thing— a road legal early CJ5, MD, or 3B with a very reliable 72 HP Hurricane for a lot less ?

Since the first Jeep was mass-produced, as far as I know, all the parts are still available. There are still original frames available unless the guy has sold out
