Openly admit that I know very little about what I am looking for. I have a 2021 Unlimited Islander that has headlights that look like this -

Technically it is my teenagers car so she wants to spend money on lights. I think what I am looking for are halo lights. Something that looks like this -

It looks like I can get an LED ring like this - Oracle Jeep Wrangler Waterproof Surface Mount LED Halo Headlight Kit; White 1214-001 (18-23 Jeep Wrangler JL) - Free Shipping (extremeterrain.com) but I really don't want to go that route with sticking something on the outside of the lights. Just seems tacky to me.

I think these are what I am looking for but not sure - Oracle Jeep Wrangler 7-Inch High Powered LED Headlights with ColorSHIFT Halo; Black Housing; Clear Lens J141715-JL (18-23 Jeep Wrangler JL) - Free Shipping (extremeterrain.com)

Here are my questions -
1. I see a 7" and a 9". Which one do I need? It measures out to about 7" on what I have so confused on why there is a 9" version. Both say they will fit.
2. What is the best brand for the money? I know nothing about these companies. Oracle seems to be the one that has the most reviews
3. She wants to be able to run them during the day. I assume they would be used as DRLs. Is there a separate switch or is this basically plug and Play.
4. Can I get fog lights to match?
5. Is there any value in the old lights? Kind of shocked by the price of these lights. Hell just the silly stick on LED rings are $200 so looking to offset the purchase by selling the old ones if they are worth anything.
6. For the Oracle lights there are 3 different controller options with about a $50 price difference. Any reason I would want a 2 RGB over a 1 RGB vs a BC1?

The OEM LED lights already have halos....that being said direct replacement would be 9" lights. I run Oracle Bi LED Oculous headlights in my Gladiator with just the white Halos. Can't help you with the different color change controllers from Oracle, but yes they have matching fog lights with the color changing halos also.

x2 on the Oracle lights, but I wouldn't swap the stock LEDs unless you just really want to get the color changing halos since the stock ones already have white halos.

These are the 9" Oracle Bi LED with white only halos. I went this route because that's what is legal in my state.

The 7" lights would look goofy on a JL.

Thanks, so If I went with the 7's, I guess that is what the adapter is for. I agree that it would probably look dumb.

It is a girl thing and that is all she has asked for Christmas. I should have looked into the price before I agreed.

No you can not get a controller as the factory LED lights only ouputs white.

If you end up changing out the lights, just note that a set of used factory LED lights do sell for a decent amount of money if you want to sell them. A lot of people would much rather have the factory LED lights instead of aftermarket.

So umm… Yeah… The Jeep has the factory LED’s and you are looking to take them out and put anything else in??? No, man. Just…. No. ?‍♂

The factory LED’s are awesome. If the Jeep’s got em’, then keep them. Tell her to mess with something else.

Edit: The LED’s are listed on Jeep’s website as >$1300 option. :surprised:

Changing from the OEM LED’s to some cheap aftermarket lights would just be making it objectively worse.

Although, you could sell the removed lights for at least as much as what the replacements cost and actually end up with money in the bank.

I disagree. I wouldn't swap OEM LED for aftermarket, but the Oracles are superior in every way to the OEM LED headlights. I've got OEM in one Jeep and Oracle in the other and side by side on my garage door, the Oracle headlights are much brighter. It's a night and day (see what I did there) difference when driving, much like the difference between the stock halogen and stock LED lights.

So basically, if he's going to swap them anyway, getting Oracle headlights will still be an upgrade.

The things we do for our children. Just be careful introducing her to other jeep upgrades. Options become endless. Cool of her to want to make it her own.

great idea and i think it’s great she likes jeep stuff and making her own! this would also be a great opportunity for you guys to do stuff together if she was interested in that. i don’t have any useful knowledge on the topic so take my post for what it’s worth. i’m just a dad who appreciates a kid wanting to attempt to customize. people will give you their opinions if you ask, doesn’t mean they’ll be accepting of your ideas. seize this opportunity if she’s up for helping out/father-dtr time or do it if you just want to learn and try stuff. you could always switch it back/sell parts you don’t want.
