My 2019 Jeep Wrangler UNL Sahara alternator is bad, mechanic said he cant find one and said it be expensive. The engine is 2.0L I4 F DOHC 16V , dont know what to do

He said the battery is fine but my jeep died out and the battery light was on.

Please help, I'm surprised he would rip me off I know that sounds naive but should I just get it back from him and go to a dealership?

As mentioned, your 2019 2.0 is the Etorque, it has no “Alternator” per se. You have a belt start generator system.

Go get your vehicle and run far and fast from that mechanic.

Is there an LKQ near you? I have never got anything small like an alternator but engines and transmissions come with a warranty.

LKQ has them in the $200 range for 2019 2.0 etorque.

Someone with an eTorque jeep please correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t eTorque-related items covered under a longer warranty, like eight years or something? If something is actually wrong with the Belt Start Generator (BSG) it may be covered still.

You have the expensive proprietary generator. I would ask the know it all people here to take up a donation. The ones that are all pro E torque that say it never breaks and the parts are cheap. Ask them to put some money where there mouth is.

The etorque system is under factory warranty for 8years/80K miles, (fact),
And if for some reason you had to pay for an etorque starter/generator, they currently run around $600 from many online Mopar retailers.

Are you in the United States? If so, take it directly to the dealership. Your “mechanic” is almost certainly wrong, and did not even perform the most basic testing or research to give you this assumption.
