I'm new to the forum... After many years of wanting a Jeep, I've finally purchased a 2018 2 door petrol Overland... I don't go off roading, I just love Jeeps!... As you can imagine "Jeep specific" information is a bit thin on the ground in the UK without approaching a main dealership (which would probably just see me as potential money in the till)...
So I figured that the best thing to do is come here and just read and learn stuff from genuine enthusiasts. And who knows, I might learn of other UK members! 👍

Welcome,

Since you have a 2018, is it a JK or a JL? This is a JL specific forum.

As I’m sure you are aware, there are slight differences, other than the steering wheel being on the wrong side for the UK, in the Euro vs the North American versions. But for the most part the similarities dar out weigh those differences.

What engine and transmission does yours have?

I've got a 2ltr JL auto... Seeing as you mention the steering wheel "difference"... Before I got the Jeep I was always lead to believe that the engines have a timing CHAIN. And all internet searches have said the same since... BUT the User Guide talks of a timing BELT which should be changed every 37500 miles or 6 years... Don't know whether it's just a UK thing, or something got lost in translation 😁 ... They all come out of the same factory!

They're a bit smart!... I feel lucky finding a decent 2 door JL. They're like rocking horse sh*t over here... Coincidentally it was whilst visiting a friend in Canada that I had my introduction to Jeeps. 3 of us travelled around for miles in a soft top 2 door... Cramped, uncomfortable and impractical... I loved every minute! 🤣👍 ... I did actually try emigrating to Canada way back in the 90's, but it turned out that my job was/is rubbish and of no real use... Now I'm still slogging away in my 50's, I sort agree! 🤣🤣

I don’t recall seeing many Jeeps when I lived there (moved in 2005), but my first Jeep experience was a bunch of us (more than is/was legal) riding in a CJ from Wetherby to Scarborough.
Saskatchewan is one of the easier provinces to move to if you’re still looking for an opportunity. Check out the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program. Or, be grateful you don’t have to contend with -40c over winter 🥶, lol.

Can't UK citizens just move to Canada if they want? It still falls under the commonwealth, I thought. You have UK royals show up from time to time and act like they own the place.

Nope, same rules as anyone else.
It’s not like the UK tried to take Canada back or mark it as an extra county. 🤭🤷🏼‍♂️

The British winter is why I opted for a JL. The weather doesn't get severe enough to need (be able to use) full fwd, so the 4H-auto will be perfect... I had a Renegade Trailhawk for a few years, it was brilliant in all conditions.
