I don't have any complaints @JeepCares - my wife loves her JL! But I do have a question re the standard 5 inch UConnect radio. Is there a way to change out the background image. The constant dry lakebed/desert image in the middle of the dash seems very austere and is frankly a bit of a downer. Seems in 2018 technology should allow an owner to choose something else...

Hello Jeep Cares, just picked a 2018 JL 2-door Rubicon and within 100 miles I noticed the ā€œservice shifterā€ warning light. The first time I noticed it was the second day of ownership. Under the hood there was also a strong coolant smell. I called my dealer immediately and it is now waiting for service.
One other important bit of info is that when I took the Jeep for a test drive, the first time I put it in gear I noticed the the ā€œP, R, N, Dā€ did not light up. I mentioned it to the salesman and he told me you have to look in the dash. So, it had the problem before I took ownership.

Iā€™m super frustrated but just hope this is a simple bug with a minor repair. I didnā€™t dump a hefty down payment on a vehicle to have it sit at the dealership.

Is this issue worthy of opening a case. Looking for advice @JeepCares

Thanks,
Jon

Good morning Keiland,

Unfortunately the theme setting cannot be changed on the 5" Uconnect radio.

Hi Lamar,

My Jeep has been in for service since Monday and I am still waiting for a call from the dealership, which is Motorworld Jeep in Wilkes-Barre Pa.
I am not asking for technical advice. I am asking for help to properly document this occurrence because I am not happy.
Would you be able to advise me?
Thanks,
Jon

Two weeks ago I messaged Jeep about my Rubicon 9/27 order concerning the status. I had patiently waited a couple of months before asking. It took about three days and I got a response that it had passed inspection. They said I could check back the week of the 10th (this week). So I reply back this week and get a response that the case had been closed :( I start a new message without any reference to the case number. Two days later I get a survey asking about the service on the first inquiry. I answer nicely, but honestly. Three days now and I have not heard from the second inquiry.

If Jeep would tell me (us) why it takes longer to work on our Jeeps after they are built than it does to actually run them through the production line to build them then perhaps we could understand. If they would tell us they are waiting on a part, perhaps we would understand. But when they are silent; and when you read stories about steering problems, frame problems, Jeeps burning, radios going blank...... well you are left wondering just how bad they might have screwed up your Jeep. I realize there are a lot more Jeeps being built that are flawless than there are ones with issues. But their silence does nothing to make one have confidence in the build process.

This Jeep is a toy for me. A $60,000 toy. I could have had a Jaguar or any other toy at this price range. I could have bought a 4Runner and spent $20,000 customizing it. I could have, I could have, I could have..... But I trusted Jeep to treat me like they did when I bought my JK. They have let me down and they don't seem to care.

I have no problem if my Jeep didn't get scheduled to arrive until 2019. But I do have a problem when I know it's built and just sitting somewhere for a month (or two) and who knows what is wrong with it if anything and there is no way to honestly find out what is going on.

Greetings @JeepCares, I regret that I was just a victim of fraud by a FCA dealership in Seattle. I took in our JLR for its 6 month oil and 5 tire rotation. I was very explicit when I booked the appointment. I was very explicit when I dropped off the jeep. I even confirmed when they called to say the work was done. And I have the paperwork to show it. Yet I just noticed the spare tire still has the fresh striping on the tread and not on the wheels/tires in use. So indisputable evidence says they defrauded me and YOU since I'm sure they'll seek compensation from corporate for warranty/wave work reportedly done but wasn't.

Given they defrauded me on such a trivial thing and had our jeep for a whole day take care of it even after it was "done" by mid morning. How do I know they changed the oil and filter? How do I know they did the safety inspection? I will now need to go to a different dealership and have the work done for real.

@JeepCares Please contact me for next steps. I can provide pictures paperwork etc.

Btw the dealership is Seattle Chrysler dodge jeep.

Sounds like a crappy dealer. As for the oil, just check it. It should look clean and new for a few hundred miles. I'd also check that they filled it to the proper level. Many dealerships, even good ones, have been putting the 6 quarts specified in the previous Pentastar into the new one which only takes 5 quarts.

You can also open up the oil filter and look at it, too. If it looks dark, twisted, and has some slight fraying on the pleats, then it is an old filter. If the pleats look relatively straight (even brand new Mopar filters have some twisting to the pleats) and the pleats look like they have no fraying or fibers sticking out, then it should be good. Of course a new filter is very cheap insurance.

Thanks Dan for the guidance. But I have resigned from doing maintenance myself for more than a decade. And after owning a Ford, Toyota, BMW, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Dodge, Lincoln, now Jeep. The jeep has been the only brand I have experienced such bad service. Well...Porche dealership service actually has been a disaster for a couple years now and we take our car to a boutique specialty shop that is very busy with many new clients for the same reason.

Hello Grousemont,

Thank you for reaching out, and we're very sorry to hear about your experience. Have you addressed this with dealer upper management? As dealerships are independently owned and operated businesses, service concerns are best handled by dealer management directly. If you need further assistance after attempting to work this out with them, please PM us.

I have and at this point they are rectifying. They investigated and admitted they had a failure in process at a couple of points that resulted in my experience. Did they learn and address the failure? Time will tell. But at this point I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. However, fool me twice....nuff said.

Any idea how to get me labeled as the owner to my jeep? I've been trying to get this accomplished ever since I purchased the jeep.
