I don't have to use the heater too often in Texas, but when I do, it can be very inconsistent. I can set it at about 70 when it's cold outside. Then if I decide to adjust by just 1 degree, it either gets way too hot or way too cold. Once it gets cooler, it's really hard to bring it back up to temp.

In other words, I'm driving down the road and it's set at 70, then I decide I want it a degree or two cooler, so I turn down to 68, it starts blowing pretty cool air out. Definitely not a degree or 2 change, but more like 10 degrees.
Yes, exactly this.

I've been having the same issue lately. I don't drive a lot at night and now it's starting to get colder in Massachusetts. Last night we were out and it was about 30 degrees. I had to set the temperature to 79° just to get it to blow warm air. I tried both Auto and manual modes. If I went down it would be blowing cool air again. Didn't know if I should bring it to the dealership or not or if this is a common problem

mine is on the warm side, 70-72 seems to work well. Sometimes 72 gets a little too warm so I drop down to 71 and it starts to blow cold air through the vents which I don't like. I'd say its works about average for an Auto system. I had many Auto systems in different vehicles, and most do well in cold temps 30s and hot temps 90s, but seem to struggle in more moderate temps being either too cold or too warm and during local driving, they seem to work better on longer highway drives. I also think your body adapts better on the longer drives.
This is exactly the issue. Same with my Lincoln and Charger and Saturn.
Auto in mid climates struggles with temperatures. What it does do well is manage the fan speed. So it's just an attribute and not a fault.

That's pretty much my experience, very annoyed by it.

If it's anything like the automatic temp control in the JK and the WK2, it's the worst I've ever seen. In my JK, if it's really cold out, you either have to have cold air or scorching heat. My wife's Grand Cherokee is the same way. It's so annoying in the winter.
I have both a JK and WK2, and the HVAC is the best I’ve ever had. I set it for the temp I wanted the day I bought it never messed with it again. Yours are messed up.

Picked up my black Rubi yesterday. Love it!! Only concern is that while I put my heat on AUTO I have to have it at 77/78 to be comfortable. Normally I set my temp to 70, but this seems very drafty. This is my 3rd Wrangler, but none had AUTO temp control. Anyone else have this problem or notice it?
Exact same thing here. I keep mine on 76 just to stay comfy. It's ridiculous.

The software is written wrong. It doesn't rely on internal temperature as much as it should. Instead, I think it pulls from the solar sensor and outside ambient sensor mainly to make it's decisions. It doesn't work worth a damn.

I've had vehicles with auto climate control before, and they all worked great. Not so with the JL.

I'm having the same issue. Set to 74-80* feels same temp, maybe even down to 72*... Turn to 68-70 and after a few mins, it's very cool.

It seems very slow to adjust going down in temp, but going up much faster to react. Very annoying

Mine works intermittently. The other day it was -1 here in Missouri, I set to high on auto initially to warm it up. Once it got hot in the cabin I tried to lower it to 67 and air was still scalding. I then turned all the way to low and cold air blew out. Then increased just to 61 and hot air again...

What I can tell you is that the software update did not fix the problem. There is still a huge difference between the set temperature and the actual temperature in the Jeep on a cold day.
