Picked up my black Rubi yesterday. Love it!! Only concern is that while I put my heat on AUTO I have to have it at 77/78 to be comfortable. Normally I set my temp to 70, but this seems very drafty. This is my 3rd Wrangler, but none had AUTO temp control. Anyone else have this problem or notice it?

Not at all, as far as heat goes, but I've never had a display showing me temp. I just dialed my JK to high (what temp that was.... who knows). All I know this JL heater will run you out of the vehicle.

If it's anything like the automatic temp control in the JK and the WK2, it's the worst I've ever seen. In my JK, if it's really cold out, you either have to have cold air or scorching heat. My wife's Grand Cherokee is the same way. It's so annoying in the winter.

Mine is working fairly well....I have it set to 72 out here in CO and is mostly comfortable. Only thing I've noticed thus far is after a longer ride and if the sun is out the temp sensor must start to get warm. I say that because even though it is 40 degrees out it'll start to blow cool air. Doesn't freeze me out or anything like that but is not the temp I'd expect the air coming out.

I am in Maine and have had mine at 65 on floor and fan at two. I use the remote start and it turns the seat and wheel heater on for me. It also cranks the fan on high until I open the door then it goes back to my setting- this feature was unexpected and its pretty awesome. It was pretty cold last night and I turned it on while checking out at grocery store and it was perfect when I got in.
I think so far it is working perfect. Insulation probably doesn't help, maybe why some people are saying it is "drafty".

I don’t think that’s a Jeep only issue since my GMCs have been the same way. My wife refuses to use Auto in any of our vehicles.

I went from a 17 Silverado which was perfect. My wife’s 17 Acadia Denali is also perfect. My Jeep, not so much.

I don't use the auto temp anymore, but I've had tthe same issue in my Ford Edge.
What I ghink is part of the problem is that we do not get a displaynof the current cabin temp, therefore, it is difficult to properly set the temperature.
Think like yiur home thermostat, itmsets the temp based on where ghe thermostat is plaved, that does not mean every room in the house is the same temp.
So I wonder there the sensor is located, ever notice the outside temp is high in the summer when you get in the vehicle after it has been sitting in the sun, then cools as you begin to drive? So I am pretty sure the sensors are not placed in a place to give you a fully accurate reading, especially not for what you may feel in the drivers seat.

Also, unless I am extrenely hot or cold, I don't let the vents blow direct on me, seems I can maintain a more comfortable "cabin" temp that way.

mine is on the warm side, 70-72 seems to work well. Sometimes 72 gets a little too warm so I drop down to 71 and it starts to blow cold air through the vents which I don't like. I'd say its works about average for an Auto system. I had many Auto systems in different vehicles, and most do well in cold temps 30s and hot temps 90s, but seem to struggle in more moderate temps being either too cold or too warm and during local driving, they seem to work better on longer highway drives. I also think your body adapts better on the longer drives.

I don't have to use the heater too often in Texas, but when I do, it can be very inconsistent. I can set it at about 70 when it's cold outside. Then if I decide to adjust by just 1 degree, it either gets way too hot or way too cold. Once it gets cooler, it's really hard to bring it back up to temp.

In other words, I'm driving down the road and it's set at 70, then I decide I want it a degree or two cooler, so I turn down to 68, it starts blowing pretty cool air out. Definitely not a degree or 2 change, but more like 10 degrees.
