I'm just curious what Jeepers are using these days for protection and shine on your hardtop and plastic fender flares?

I've been using 303, it seems to be working well.

I don’t do anything for the hardtop other than washing it.

For black plastic bits, I’ve used:

Adam’s VRT
Adam’s Black Trim Restorer
Cerakote

I've been using VRP on the jeep and it's been holding up well in the AZ sun. Overall been using this product for many years. I don't use anything on the hardtop. Cleans up the metal rock sliders as well. Very happy with the results.

Thought about trying the Adam's product many times but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Whatever ceramic coating I have around. You can try all the fancy plastic, trim restore stuff but even the cheapest ceramic coating will work wonders on plastic.

Oh that sounds good, I could go for a little shot of that right now. I haven't had melon shine in a long time.

I haven’t tried many others, but I can’t imagine any better than the cerakote wipes. I reapply once a year!! 303 on my bed cover lasts a week.

I'm not familiar with cerakote wipes, do you have a link for that product you could post please?

+1 on the Chemical Guys VRP.

Works great for all the exterior plastic trim including the mirrors and the windshield wiper trim (which fades within months on a brand new Jeep), blackening and shining up the tires, blackening and renewing all the interior plastic trims, the leather dash, and the rubber/vinyl floor mats.

On a side note, I use Chemical Guys Leather Cleaner and Leather Conditioner on my Jeep seats and it does an amazing job cleaning them and bringing out the new leather deep black look and brings back a tinge of the original leather scent, which I personally like.

I actually use Chemical guys leather conditioner on my wife's Mustang, it works very well and I agree, it has a really nice fresh leather scent. I'm not familiar with their VRP product. I'll add that to my list and give it a try. 303 works well but I'm with @Mx5red it just doesn't seem to last very long, about 1 week. Something that lasts for a month would be great.

Thank you. 👍

Wash, then Mother’s Back to Black… then wait for next wash… then Mother’s CMX Black Trim Restore.

Then just regular washes. Redo once a year.

303 on actual plastic. I don’t want it shiny, that greasy slick crap attracts dust and breaks down the plastic ober time, turning it greyish.

The hardtop is actually molded in white, then painted matte black. Don’t use shine chemicals on it, it will dissolve the thin single stage paint over time. Many of you have probably noticed old JKs with the black worn off showing white through from underneath. All it needs is the occasional wipe down with some detailer spray. If you try to use a conventional cleaner wax on it, or something like NuFinish, you will wish you never did. The white residue is almost impossible to remove from the texture.
