The question is the OEM Hard Top Headliner worth the $525?
Is there an aftermarket option equal to or better that is less expensive?
I have found plenty of aftermarket options but I am not sure about the quality so if you have knowledge shed some light.

On the same note

Hinge-Gate Reinforcement by Mopar is this worth the $675?
I don't plan on running anything larger than 35 so would the original hinge hold and support that weight?

I can only give you my opinion on the OEM headliner. When I first started roughing out an order, I really I thought I needed the headliner. Then as time went on, I decided to put that option money toward something else.

I was happy without them, and actually prefer the white on the inside of the roof over the black - it seems lighter to me. Road noise really wasn't a problem.

Now I've purchased the Sunrider for the Hardtop, which I love, which would have made my purchase of the headliners a waste.

Just one person's perspective.

Hotheads headliner over the OEM headliner is my preference. I'm not sure on the gate reinforcement. I believe I read that, for 35s, it wasn't needed.

I have the OEM headliners and I think they're OK, no basis for comparison though.

I'm really just replying because I saw in your profile that you have an '09 CBR600RR. ME TOO!!

Thanks for your input Jim. Road noise to me is not an issue after having a TJ rag top lol. I don't think the headliner provides much of an insulation either in cold weather. I think I will save the money and get something less expensive. I will look into HotHead as Rockadile suggested. Thanks for the input guys.

Mine is red, sorry I don't have any recent pics. I'd snap a quick one, but it's in storage until it warms up a bit. :(

If it were my call.....it's not.

You don't want headliners for insulation and your summers in NE are not as hot/as long as those in Texas etc., so we're left with appearance reasons....

It's the right decision for you for the right reasons I think.

I have the Mopar headliner, but only because it came as an unremovable part of the Moab package. IMO it isn't worth it for $500. I don't hear a significant difference in wind noise. It does seem to make a big impact in rain noise on the hard top, but are you willing to pay $500 just for your Jeep to not be as noisy when you're driving in the rain? If you are, then it's worth adding. Otherwise I don't think it's necessary.

i dont think the extra head liner is worth it. its never gonna be super quite either way. myself i have always loved the sound of rain on top of my trucks and the sound of the mud terrains on the road.

You all have valid points. I agree $500 is to much for the factory headliner. I will go without one for now and down the road if I really feel the need for one I will go with an aftermarket option which is far less than $500.

Its been raining Championships here in NE Kurtis LOL

I have the OEM - after a year I'd say they are ok. That said, they're not worth $525.

If you just wanted to change the color, I’ve dipped mine and some members have painted theirs. The plasti dip actually traps heat quite a bit.

I have the OEM which I purchased on eBay for less than the regular price--If memory serves, it was from a dealer out in Arizona and sold it for $325 new. Truthfully, I didn't see that much difference in noise level (in fact, I did not notice any) nor did I notice any difference in heat retention (I live in Chicago). I think they were over priced at $325... they do look good once installed--but that's about all they have going for them. If I had do over, I would simply paint the interior and call it a day. IMO.
