Handbrake loose

hey all. This past week I was out wheeling with my Jeep. During the trip when I stopped I went to pull my e brake when we stopped. Normally it would only go say a 45• angle. Now it goes almost all the way to the trim piece. What is the cause and fix for this? The brake doesn’t seem to hold much now. This is a 19’ JL sport 6 speed if that matters. Thanks all

lift up center console in rear and tighten the cables a bit.
