Has anyone plasti dipped their doors and if so how did it hold up. Found a set of white doors for a good price but I have a silver Jeep. My plan is in the next year or two selling my Jeep to get a 392 so painting them and then having to do it again does not seem worth the cost. My thought was I could plasti dip them and when I get the 392 paint them to match that Jeep or sell them and buy ones that are the same color as the 392. Thanks for any input

Plastidip holds up well if you get a pretty heavy coat on there. If you’re on tight trails, you may run into trouble with trees, but you can always spray more to touch it up.

Also, I would avoid getting too close with pressure washers. If you happen to tear the coating at all, the water will force itself under, bubble the coating, and rip a bunch off. Doesn’t damage anything, but it’s a pain to redo when this happens.

Yeah, PlastiDip stays on well until something gets underneath it and then what lifts up becomes leverage to peeling a lot of it off. This might sound like a good temporary solution until you paint to match the 392 but in reality 90% of it will be fairly easy to remove, 10% will be a royal PIA.

You might want to look into a vinyl wrap instead.

Can they vinyl wrap inside the door also? Might call around and see the cost of doing vinyl.

I've only done vinyl decals, not a full wrap. But the decals come off clean and fairly easily with heat. The wrap should be the same. No idea on cost but it is predominantly labor, the vinyl itself is fairly cheap. DIY is an option if you're fairly skilled and/or not that picky.

Why not wrap em in vinyl? Looks better and holds about as good as Plastidip for trail running.

WD-40 will actually dissolve plastidip and makes that last 10% MUCH easier.

Without knowing this, it really can be challenging to get that last bit, but if it’s during paint prep, all the panels will be scuffed anyways so it should remove any excess.

Vinyl wrap is a better option imo. Plastidip is hard to get even and requires more care/attention to maintain. Both come off fairly easy if you need to remove but I would not leave the wrap on more than a year or so. Some of these will damage the clear coat if left on too long. YMMV.

Good to know. I'll have to task a brain cell with retaining that information.
